Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_shasha, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.

Personality
Shasha¡¯s like a child who grew up too quickly. It's heartbreaking to witness her inability to say no, even when she doesn't like something, or her hesitance to approach what she loves. But Shasha is gradually blossoming under the loving care of her foster mom. At the age of three, she encountered stairs for the very first time. Initially, she found them awkward and challenging, but she bravely learned to navigate them with her foster mom by her side. Despite being treated like an object and isolated from the world, there's no doubt her curious spirit was alive and well. Once Shasha discovered the warmth of having a guardian, she started to express herself more. She couldn't help but whine whenever someone left and would eagerly wait at the front door. Being close to people is where she wants to be, all the time. Like other dogs rescued with her, she dislikes kennels. Elevators didn't sit well with her either, likely a reminder of past confinement. However, with time, she has grown quite comfortable with them. As she shares new experiences with her guardian, Shasha's confidence steadily grows. On walks, she effortlessly matches her pace with her human companion, finding pure joy in the simple act of sniffing around. Bath time and getting her coat dried were initially met with reluctance, but she has since learned to trust her caring guardian.

With humans
Shasha adores her foster mom. She's okay with being petted anywhere, except around her nose and mouth. When at home, she always sticks by her foster mom's side, seeking affection, and sometimes falls asleep when she's comfortable. While she doesn't reject strangers touching her, please don't misperceive that as her liking everyone. Shasha is still uncomfortable with and wary of human touch. If a stranger is with her foster mom, she will avoid approaching her foster mom as well. Please give Shasha the space and time she needs to form her own thoughts about people. To ensure she feels at ease during walks, it¡¯s better to avoid crowded places due to her shy and introverted nature.

With dogs
While on a walk, Shasha once came across another dog and initially showed interest. However, after a quick sniff, she froze in place. Although she seems to have a curiosity about other animals when she occasionally encounters them, she tends to repeat the same behavior by sniffing and then standing still. Consistent socialization is necessary to help her improve her interactions with other dogs.

With cats
Shasha hasn't met or lived with cats before.

Energy level
Due to her heartworm treatment, Shasha hasn¡¯t had the chance to spend much time outdoors, but she really enjoys her walks. Please provide her with enough time to enjoy her favorite activities, like sniffing plants and grass during her daily walks.

Shedding/Barking
When Shasha shakes her body, her fur flies everywhere, so expect to find her white fur on your clothes! At first, she didn't bark, but now, after coming back from the hospital, she sometimes growls and barks briefly when a stranger enters or reappears from a room. Other than that, she rarely barks.

Needs help with
Shasha doesn't have many good memories with people and dogs yet, but she's not opposed to them. She can be further socialized through positive experiences. She¡¯s also not familiar with kibble, treats, and dental chews, so please help her become accustomed to them one by one.

Health specifics
Shasha¡¯s receiving heartworm treatment.

Ideal family
We hope Shasha's new family will be patient and take the time to teach her. While Shasha isn't particularly sensitive to noise, her shy and introverted nature may make her prefer a calm home environment over a bustling one with many family members. Shasha hasn't shown any signs of aggression or trouble. When she's with her guardian, she bravely attempts things, and the time spent receiving gentle strokes from them brings her happiness. Though she may not fully understand her guardian's words, she always makes an effort to interpret their __expression__s and actions. Shasha is waiting for a lifelong family that will make her feel loved, whether she¡¯s dynamic or mischievous.
