Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder’s possession. Among them was #weact_austin, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.

Austin is an incredible extrovert. He approaches people and animals with equal enthusiasm, making him come across as a huge extrovert. Even when meeting people for the first time, he approaches with his tail wagging and expresses his excitement to play with other dogs without any hesitation. Austin's social circle is so extensive that it might be as vast as the Pacific Ocean. If he were to host a party, he could likely orchestrate an event that brings both humans and dogs together. We can easily picture him stylishly dressed amidst all the fun. While meeting such an outgoing extrovert like Austin might be overwhelming at first, you'll likely find yourself missing him when he's not around.


With humans
Austin loves everyone, regardless of age or gender, and he even approaches strangers with endless affection. He’s playful and enjoys being with people, but there's one behavior that he finds scary. If someone makes big movements or hand gestures, he might suddenly close his eyes and cower, even if he was having a good time just moments before. To ensure Austin continues to enjoy himself, try to interact with him using slow movements.


With dogs
Austin is the kind of dog that eagerly approaches other dogs to play. Some may find this a great match, but others may find this behavior too overwhelming. Since he might express his desire to play without picking up on the signals of other dogs, please observe the situation closely to avoid any potential disputes.


With cats
Austin has not lived with cats before.


Energy level
Energetic Austin needs to go for walks at least twice a day. He has a strong curiosity and loves spending time with his friends, so letting him participate in various activities would be wonderful. While there could be many reasons why he enjoys walks, the most significant reason is likely the opportunity to share the happiest moments with his beloved guardian.


Shedding/Barking
Austin sheds quite a bit and may demand attention through barking.


Needs help with
Austin freely goes potty both indoors and outdoors, but he still needs continuous training to use potty pads correctly. He gets easily excited about new things and tends to lead the way during walks. To ensure that he strolls pleasantly alongside his family, it's crucial to focus on leash training and instilling good walking etiquette. Given Austin’s high excitement levels, helping him practice patience and approach other dogs gently will help him make many friends.

Currently, he wears both a harness and collar for safety during walks, but if he learns to walk calmly with his guardian, using just one should be enough. Despite his cheerful demeanor, Austin retains some inner fear around people.
