Rescue story
In May 2023, WEACT received a tip that two dogs, along with one carcass, had been abandoned at a breeding facility in Namyangju. Upon our arrival at the Ilpaedong breeding facility, the carcass and the two dogs had disappeared without a trace. We were able to confirm that one of the dogs, which had been abandoned with the carcass, was under the custody of the owner who had abused them, while the other was taken into protective custody by the city shelter. However, we were unable to identify the owner. Fortunately, many people came together to lend their voices and efforts, ultimately establishing a connection with the owner and convincing them to relinquish ownership. With the assistance of KK9, we were able to rescue not only the two dogs that had disappeared but also all the dogs owned by the breeding facility owner. #weact_bao finally escaped from a hell created by human greed and now faces a new world.

Personality
Bao is like a friendly class president. When meeting someone for the first time, she¡¯s the first to say hello with her adorable heart-shaped face and bright eyes. If you listen closely to her story, your initial apprehension will disappear, and you'll be charmed by her. Despite possessing a kind personality and adorable appearance, Bao also has some things she¡¯s unsure about. She has pondered for a long time about how to approach a new dog friend, deal with fear, and the purpose of a soft mat! What Bao needs most is a patient and supporting family. If you work together and find solutions, Bao will quickly understand and adapt.

With humans
Bao gets along well with people regardless of gender and is very fond of them.

With dogs
Bao tends to treat dog friends differently based on gender. She¡¯s comfortable around male dogs but exhibits reactivity when encountering female dogs that seem stronger than her. Additionally, while Bao doesn't nip at new friends, she may become excited and rush toward them. If you need to introduce Bao to a new friend, keep her on a leash and see if they are compatible.

With cats
Bao has never met or lived with cats.

Energy level
Bao has a moderate activity level and prefers to go potty outdoors. If she masters the use of potty pads indoors, it would be fine to go for a walk every two to three days after having enough indoor playtime. Bao is still getting used to walking and may appear nervous and hesitant around busy roads, but she walks calmly alongside her guardian while sniffing around. Due to her small face, it's recommended to use a harness rather than a collar.

Shedding/Barking
Bao sheds quite a bit and may bark from her kennel when she wants to be let out. Other than that, she doesn't bark much, but this can vary depending on the environment.

Needs help with
Bao primarily goes potty outside and hasn¡¯t had much success with using potty pads indoors. Consistent potty training is necessary for her to become more familiar with potty pads. Due to her previous experience of long confinement in a small cage, she dislikes being in a kennel. To help reduce Bao¡¯s aversion to kennels, use treats to create positive associations.

Health specifics
Bao is healthy.

Ideal family
An ideal family for Bao is one that can spend ample time with her throughout the day. Bao is friendly with people, regardless of their gender. She can thrive as the only pet or in a family with children. While she might be a bit cautious in new places, having her supportive family around will help her adjust quickly. If there are other resident dogs, it's essential to check their compatibility and provide appropriate training. Due to Bao¡¯s dense coat, regular brushing with a slicker brush is necessary. While she doesn't need frequent walks due to her low activity level, it¡¯s recommended to gradually increase the frequency and duration of walks if she hasn¡¯t had enough indoor playtime. Bao yearns for opportunities to have outdoor fun and explore new experiences. She's seeking a loving family to share a lifetime of memories and quality time together.
