Rescue story
In the sweltering summer of 2021, WEACT headed to Gumi after receiving a report that a dozen or so dogs were trapped in a lighting store that had gone out of business. There, we were horrified to find countless dogs left without drinking water and exposed to temperatures reaching 38¡ÆC (100¡ÆF) in an unventilated space. We also found out that the same owner was neglecting 70 dogs at the base of the nearby mountains. The heat in #GumiDogHell was so intense that even the rescuers struggled to remain standing. It was there that Ginger was discovered in a severely dehydrated state and clinging to her life. The owner¡¯s lack of awareness and failure to provide proper care led to an uncontrollable increase in the number of dogs, until the efforts of WEACT, rescuers, and volunteers stepped in to help each dog start a new life.

Personality
Just like how a cosmos flower slowly prepares to bloom in autumn, Ginger remembers every moment spent with people in detail, adapting slowly and blooming with a bright smile. Her hesitancy towards human interaction or touch is simply because she¡¯s had little experience with them! If you slowly reach out and pet Ginger¡¯s round head, she¡¯ll accept it with a full heart. To help her feel at ease around people, snacks are the way to go! Ginger loves treats so much that when she sees them, she¡¯ll put aside her shyness and carefully approach the hand holding the treat. She has a good understanding of spatial boundaries and often eats and rests in her kennel. As an incredible social butterfly, Ginger¡¯s always eager to greet other dog friends and befriends them quickly. She enjoys playing pranks and learns from their positive behavior. Once you catch sight of Ginger¡¯s perked-up ears and bright smile, you¡¯ll find it hard to resist her cuteness!

With humans
Despite having little interaction with people, Ginger¡¯s amiable nature enables her to accept physical touch from strangers. Given her adaptability and affectionate personality, she¡¯ll gradually warm up to those who are patient. If you¡¯re looking to quickly befriend Ginger, offering her favorite treats is the way to go! She¡¯ll momentarily forget her uneasiness and approach you with enthusiasm!

With dogs
Ginger is well-rounded and gets along well with everyone. She may be a bit shy with new friends, but this doesn¡¯t last long! After a few meetings, she becomes playful and enjoys spending time with them!

With cats
Ginger has never met a cat.

Energy level
Ginger needs to be walk at least twice a day. Since she isn¡¯t very active, taking her on short walks a few times a day should be sufficient. Giving Ginger the chance to socialize with friends and run around in a spacious area such as a field will make her day an enjoyable one.

Shedding/Barking
Ginger tends to shed and may bark for food during mealtime. She¡¯s a bold pup who knows what she wants!

Needs help with
Because Ginger is easily startled by sudden movements or sounds, it¡¯s important to reassure her the presence of her family as a source of safety and provide her with desensitization training. Her limited exposure to humans may make it difficult for her to engage in activities that involve interacting with them and accept physical touch. Rather than forcing Ginger to adapt, it¡¯s important to give her time to feel comfortable and open up at her own pace.

Health specifics
Ginger¡¯s gums are very healthy, but her teeth are partially worn out. It would be best to give her soft treats rather than hard ones.

Ideal family
The ideal family for Ginger would be one that is patient, responsible, and able to provide her with the necessary encouragement as she adapts to her new surroundings. If there are other dogs in the household, she may quickly settle in by observing and learning from their behavior. While it may take Ginger some time to adjust to a new environment initially, she¡¯ll soon become an adventurous explorer eager to discover new experiences with her family. She¡¯s an outdoor enthusiast who loves to go for walks and play with other dogs. Because Ginger isn¡¯t particularly active, she would be happy with short walks at least twice a day. You can enjoy exploring different landscapes throughout the day with her. We are searching for a forever family who will walk alongside Ginger and establish a loving, special bond with her.
