Rescue story
WEACT encountered a distressed dog wandering the streets on the outskirts of Seoul, clearly showing signs of recent lactation. After locating the owner, we discovered two additional puppies at the residence. This poor dog had endured multiple pregnancies and given birth to a total of eleven puppies while living on the streets. In an effort to help, WEACT pledged to improve their living conditions and support the neutering of the dogs. However, shortly thereafter, news emerged that the owner had been taken into custody. Moreover, accounts from neighbors revealed a history of ongoing abuse toward the dogs. Determined to provide a better life, WEACT decided to assume ownership of the dogs and find them new homes. The mother dog was lovingly named #weact_dorothy, and her puppies were given the names #weact_soul and #weact_laku.


Personality
Despite her princess-like appearance reminiscent of a Disney character, Dorothy has experienced multiple pregnancies and births with her petite body. She revels in being the baby of the family, snuggling in her foster parents' arms. The touch of their hand caressing her head, back, and belly brings her utmost joy. She harbors affection for all people, irrespective of whether they are strangers, women, or men, but she displays even more warmth towards those familiar to her. She constantly gravitates towards her foster parents, readily offering her belly for gentle rubs. Even when her friends at The Home were busy playing, she sought the comfort of being held by someone familiar. However, it would be incorrect to assume that Dorothy doesn't get along with dogs. In fact, she happily shares her space, treats, and toys with them, and she had a very harmonious relationship with her previous roommate. Due to her gentle nature, Dorothy often finds herself surrounded by a multitude of friends! Her abundant and selfless love captivates both dogs and humans alike. Once you succumb to her irresistible charm, there is no turning back!


With humans
Dorothy's love for her foster parents is so strong that she sticks to them like glue. If they happen to overlook the presence of little Dorothy by their feet, she persistently shuffles her tiny feet and makes eye contact, yearning to be petted. At the mere mention of her name, she eagerly approaches with her tail wagging incessantly. Dorothy loves people so much that she wants to be constantly by their side. While she expresses her fondness for strangers through a wagging tail, her affection towards familiar individuals is even more intense.


With dogs
Dorothy's gentle nature was quickly recognized by her dog friends. She approaches new friends with friendliness, warmly wagging her tail to greet them. It is undeniable that she is popular among her friends, as they always want to be in her company. Although she is friendly, Dorothy knows how to voice her discontent when faced with overly enthusiastic playmates. However, despite her fondness for her friends, she appears to have a preference for the company of her guardian.


With cats
Dorothy has never met a cat.


Energy level
Dorothy remains composed and doesn’t get overly excited during walks or at dog parks. While strolling, she calmly accompanies her foster parents and enjoys socializing with her friends at the park. However, she has a penchant for exploring her surroundings and savoring various scents. After spending about 20 minutes walking or playing in the park, Dorothy is content to sit by her family’s side, indicating that she doesn’t require prolonged periods of physical activity. She may not engage in vigorous outdoor play, but she still craves interaction with her foster family, attentively observing their actions and maintaining eye contact. It would be wonderful to incorporate daily light walks to further build trust and deepen your bond with Dorothy during this quality time.


Shedding/Barking
Dorothy experiences some shedding. Additionally, when she wants something, she expresses herself through cries or barks.


Needs help with
Initially, Dorothy shows some resistance to walking on a leash, but gradually she starts walking along. It’s possible that she is still adjusting to wearing a leash, so creating positive and enjoyable experiences during walks would be beneficial for her. While she generally follows her foster family well, there are times when she doesn’t respond to calls while playing at the park. Strengthening Dorothy’s recall training and building a stronger bond with her in various situations would be beneficial. During her time at The Home, she was comfortable staying in her kennel, but she is still unfamiliar with using a crate. Sometimes she may whimper or cry, expressing her desire to come out and seek comfort. Additionally, Dorothy has a preference for soft food and chewy snacks, and she doesn’t particularly enjoy hard food. It would be helpful to provide appropriate training and interventions to address these behaviors.

Ideal family
Dorothy overflows with love for her foster family. During the initial stages of her rescue, it was discovered that what appeared to be muscular hips and hind legs were actually long, matted fur. After the fur was trimmed, a charming rear end emerged, accompanied by a tail that swayed in perfect harmony with her legs as she walked. Dorothy is in search of a forever family who can shower her with limitless affection. Like the brave protagonist in "The Wizard of Oz," who found a happy ending with the help of others, we hope Dorothy's life will be filled with unwavering support and encouragement from her family. With her loved ones by her side, Dorothy can overcome any obstacle. The name, "Dorothy," carries the meaningful message of “a gift from God," perfectly aligning with her innate ability to spread love throughout the world. We eagerly await a family that can provide Dorothy with stable care and an endless supply of affection so that she can experience the love she truly deserves.
