Rescue story
WEACT headed to a rural village in Mungyeong after receiving a report about dogs being neglected in a shed. Their former owner had been ignorant of the importance of spay/neuter and of how dogs should be cared for in general, leading to the dogs suffering neglect that bordered on abuse. It took three separate trips to rescue the 48 dogs, who had been living in a filthy environment for a long time. #weact_hi was one of the precious souls who managed to survive in this harsh environment, and he has finally started to get to know the big, beautiful world outside the shed.

Personality
While Hi may seem timid, he has a great curiosity about the world. He can¡¯t help but go up to sniff humans, but he gets scared when they approach him. Whenever Hi is frightened, he whimpers and tries to hide under the bed. Hi used to be afraid of fast moving cars or motorcycles, but he now waits patiently until they pass and even bravely walks near traffic. This smart, loving puppy is growing into a fine young gentleman as he relishes exciting new experiences.

With humans
Could you give me a moment? Please wait for me to come to you.

Hi¡¯s still scared of being approached too fast. One way to greet him is to get down on his level and wait for him sniff you. He¡¯ll start making his way to you with a curious face. It¡¯s also important to gradually and gently touch Hi. If you try to hold him without notice, he may squirm and run away. As you take it slow and give him a chance to adjust to new surroundings, Hi will unveil his charm!

With dogs
Hi loves playing with his canine roommate at his foster home. He gets nervous in crowded places and prefers quiet trails. Whenever he sees dog friends on walks, he whines because he¡¯s so excited. Hi¡¯s currently learning how to greet them politely! It¡¯s important to supervise him carefully at dog parks, and be on a lookout for any signs of discomfort or stress.

With cats
Hi sometimes takes the initiative to greet the cats at his foster home, but there are also days when he just ignores them. He¡¯s learning how to respect their boundaries so he will have no problem living with cats.

Energy level
Our high-energy pup needs at least two walks a day! When Hi walks with his dog roommate, he likes to lead the pack and when alone, he calmly walks alongside his foster parents. He may stop and sit down during walks, but he will soon be on his way if you wait a moment! Whether Hi¡¯s in the living room or at the park, he likes to run around quickly when he¡¯s bursting with energy!

Shedding/Barking
Hi does shed. When he gets really excited or happy to see you, he sometimes barks. His barks are loud but short.

Needs help with
Hi has 90% mastered going potty indoors! He¡¯s 100% successful when people are home, but he sometimes has accidents when home alone. Hi needs help overcoming his fear of the vet. He also used to be scared of baths, but he¡¯s slowly getting better. With continuous training, Hi has learned not to be scared of his leash; he patiently waits until his foster parents attach the leash to his harness before going on walks. It would be helpful to teach Hi to greet other dogs politely during walks. He tends to make sounds that may seem aggressive while playing at dog parks, so it is important to intervene immediately and help him calm down.

Health specifics
Hi is healthy. He is extra sensitive to hot weather so please pay close attention to the temperature and keep him cool.

Ideal family
Hi is cautious and likes to take things slow. It may seem like he¡¯s being still, but he¡¯s exploring the world at his own pace. We hope he can meet a family who is patient and supportive. Because Hi loves other dogs, having canine siblings will help him adjust to his new home! It would be great if his family is active and enjoys going on walks with our high-energy pup. Hi is waiting for a forever family who looks forward to being greeted by his smile and wet kisses everyday!
