Rescue Story
WEACT headed to a rural village in Mungyeong after receiving a report about dogs being neglected in a shed. Their former owner had been ignorant of the importance of spay/neuter and of how dogs should be cared for in general, leading to the dogs suffering neglect that bordered on abuse. It took three separate trips to rescue the 48 dogs, who had been living in a filthy, putrid environment for a long time. #weact_pella was one of the precious souls who managed to survive in this harsh environment, and she has finally started to get to know the big, beautiful world outside the shed. Personality Because she was born and raised in a shed, Pella still finds life outside quite foreign. But Pella is full of love, and she¡¯s learning how to share that love with her current foster family. She's also learning how fun life outside the shed can be – she's already become a lap pup who¡¯s super affectionate with her foster family! She still finds sudden noises or movements scary, but if you¡¯re patient with her, she¡¯ll adjust in no time and show you just how adorable and loving she can be. As a puppy, Pella is curious about almost everything she comes across. Our curious little lady is waiting to experience more of the world! With humans Pella allowed her foster family to touch her from day one, but she¡¯s still afraid of strangers. She barks when guests she hasn¡¯t met before suddenly enter her space, but after a while she¡¯ll be affectionate with these guests as well, accepting treats from them and letting them touch her! Still, Pella still gets uncomfortable and scared if she runs into her foster family in the dark or if she meets people she hasn¡¯t seen in a while. If you give her time, though, she¡¯ll gradually adjust and give lots of love even to people she¡¯s seeing for the first time in a while. With dogs Pella hasn't met many different types of dogs just yet, but she¡¯s having a lot of fun with the dog she¡¯s living with. When she meets dogs who are about her size or slightly bigger, she tends to show friendly indifference. She's not wary of other dogs, but she doesn¡¯t actively approach them either, showing interest from an appropriate distance. When she eats with her canine friends, she doesn¡¯t get possessive and will wait her turn. She¡¯s a good-natured pup who¡¯s even been seen taking a nap in the same bed as a dog she met for the first time! With cats Pella¡¯s never met a cat before, but she hasn¡¯t shown much interest in cats passing by. Energy Level Pella isn¡¯t fully vaccinated so she can¡¯t go for walks or do other outdoor activities yet. She spends her time at home playing with various toys, including nosework and wooden sticks, so we anticipate that she¡¯ll need at least two walks a day. Pella sleeps a lot but she also plays hard – when she gets bored of her toys, she¡¯ll wander about the house to look for something else she can play with! To keep Pella entertained and burn her energy, you¡¯ll need to keep finding her new toys to play with :-D Shedding/Barking Pella doesn¡¯t shed at all. If she sees a stranger in her space or hears unfamiliar noises in the middle of the night, she barks briefly out of fear, but the barking stops within a minute or two. Needs help with Pella is afraid of strangers, sudden movements and sudden noises. Background noise, especially at night, makes Pella nervous, and sudden and unexpected movements frighten her. We hope you¡¯ll teach her that there¡¯s nothing to be afraid of through desensitization training. It would also be good if you could create a cozy, comfortable space for her through crate training. Health Specifics Pella is healthy. Ideal family Pella dislikes being alone, so she¡¯s looking for a mom and dad who will sit and listen to soothing music with her to pass the time. The world is still unfamiliar to Pella, so please be patient with her as she gets used to things one by one. Soon enough, you¡¯ll find this loving pup in your lap. To mischievous little Pella, anything in the house can be a toy – please show her that there are far better toys in the world than furniture, electrical cords, wallpaper, and floor mats. It would be ideal if you could play with her using a variety of toys – Pella especially likes soft fabrics, stuffed toys, and squishy balls that are just the right size for her mouth. Since Pella is afraid of being touched suddenly, a family of calm adults would be more suitable than one with energetic young children. Pella¡¯s waiting for forever parents who will wake her up with gentle tummy pats in the mornings! Are you the one? More photos and videos https://www.instagram.com/dearest_pella/ |
