Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_mocha, who was finally able to escape the harrowing world of a breeding operation driven by human greed and embrace a new life.

Personality
As per Mocha¡¯s foster family, she brims with love, showing equal affection for both dogs and humans. When she visits a dog-friendly cafe, she ensures she snuggles with everyone present at least once and effortlessly befriends most of the dogs there. Despite enduring the harshest of circumstances, where life and death collided daily, Mocha¡¯s innate warmth and affection persist unwaveringly. At home with her foster family, she stays by their side all day, but interestingly, she sleeps on her own quite well and even when they step out, she patiently lingers by the door before retiring to her own space to rest — indicating a lack of separation anxiety. Mocha loves walks and treats very much, but sometimes she gets a little scared when encountering changes in ground texture or steps. Nevertheless, Mocha exhibits courage when faced with heights and might jump down anywhere, so please keep a close eye on her.

With humans
Mocha likes everyone, regardless of age or gender. Even with people she's meeting for the first time, she gestures to be petted and tries to snuggle up in their lap. When she's in a good mood, she quickly lies down and shows her belly.

With dogs
Mocha¡¯s bright and cheerful personality extends to her dog friends as well. She easily gets along with new friends she meets at dog-friendly cafes. When she encounters a playmate with a similar level of energy, she enthusiastically runs around and enjoys playing together.

With cats
Mocha has never met a cat.

Energy level
Even with a relatively short morning walk, Mocha sleeps well all day. A walk of approximately 20 to 30 minutes, twice daily – once in the morning and again in the evening – should be sufficient. During these walks, she usually follows behind but may pause if her leash is tugged. In such instances, try calling her name or waiting for a moment and she¡¯ll start walking again.

Shedding/Barking
Mocha sheds a lot of fur. While she doesn't bark at home, she does bark when she senses other dogs sending her aggressive signals.

Needs help with
While Mocha is trained to use indoor pads for potty purposes, she does have occasional accidents on cushions. She becomes quite excited when preparing for walks or after riding in the car, so providing her with appropriate training to help her stay calm during such situations would be beneficial.

Health specifics
Mocha's luxating patella requires careful monitoring and attention. When excited, she often tries to stand on her hind legs, a behavior that should be discouraged. Additionally, she tends to scratch herself after consuming meals containing pork, which raises concerns about a possible pork allergy.

Ideal family
Creating an environment where Mocha can flourish in love and receive suitable training would be truly special. Families of any composition, regardless of age or gender, are more than welcome. If there's a resident dog prepared to welcome Mocha, it would be a wonderful addition. Due to her sensitive patella, which makes long walks challenging, it's advisable to establish an environment that promotes her well-being through shorter, more frequent walks. We are actively seeking a forever family to care for our angelic Mocha, who continued to radiate love even through adversity.
