Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do upon receiving a report. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. #weact_sweet was born after her mom was rescued by WEACT. Personality Two months into life, Sweet is savoring another lively day today. While our routine may seem mundane, every day is a new adventure for her! The world holds so much wonder for Sweet – half of her day flies by just by smelling and running around on those short four legs. Recently, she discovered the delightful taste of sweet potatoes! Sweet is earnestly training at The Home to become a well-mannered dog and spends the remainder of her day playing with friends. Wouldn't you like to offer a place of rest for Sweet, who lives such a bustling daily life? With humans Sweet is comfortable with human touch and gets along well with everyone, regardless of gender. However, additional assessment is needed since she has never interacted with young children. With dogs Sweet isn't particularly interested in larger dogs and tends to avoid friends with a similar build who approach too playfully. She prefers the company of calm friends that approach slowly and considerately. With cats Sweet hasn't met or lived with cats before. Energy level Sweet is energetic and curious. Once her vaccinations are complete, take her on walks at least twice a day. Until then, enjoy indoor playtime with toys. If her energy isn't expended enough, she may attempt to chew on nearby items. Please be cautious and interact with her enthusiastically to provide a positive outlet for her enthusiasm! Shedding/Barking It's hard to predict the amount of shedding Sweet will experience as she still has her puppy coat. She barks while playing with her littermates. Needs help with Help Sweet become familiar with her name so she can respond to the family's voices. Once vaccinations are complete, engage in leash training for walks, expanding her exposure to the world. Introduce manners training so she can befriend various friends, along with consistent indoor potty training. Using Sweet¡¯s favorite treats or kibble as rewards will enhance her focus during training sessions. Health specifics Sweet has excessive tear production, and it's crucial to identify the underlying cause. Regular visits to the vet for completing vaccinations are necessary. As Sweet grows and encounters diverse settings, she may be susceptible to diseases or conditions. Therefore, please continue to provide meticulous care for her health, even as she reaches full maturity. Ideal family Sweety is a curious and brave companion who thrives in an environment where her family can dedicate ample time and provide unwavering attention and care. Homes with long hours away or young children may not be suitable. While showing her abundant love, provide appropriate training based on her development, and carefully attend to Sweety's health at each growth stage. An ideal home for Sweety would be pet-free, knowledgeable about raising dogs, and proactive in handling situations. Look forward to Sweety¡¯s growth, and continue to provide attention and love even in adulthood. Sweety seeks a responsible, lifelong family to share sweet days with!
