Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do upon receiving a report. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. WEACT brought home 32 dogs, including #weact_evan. Personality Meet Evan, a cheerful little fluffball who loves to hop around. Evan is a follower—whatever his friends do, he does too. If they run, Evan runs; if they bark, he barks! But Evan's real talent is daydreaming. Though he might look like he's sitting quietly, he actually enjoys taking breaks and daydreaming. Next year, he plans to join the Han River Daydreaming Competition. When Evan first saw a leash, he thought it was a fun chew toy. His cute antics made it impossible to take the leash away. Though baths make Evan a bit nervous, he doesn't refuse them. During brushing, he sits on his guardian's lap, showing a gentle side and accepting grooming without any fuss. Evan doesn't try to escape his kennel; after all, it's a perfect spot for a good daydream. Watching Evan's easygoing life has a calming effect, making everyone who sees him feel relaxed. With humans Evan is comfortable with both men and women, showing no hesitation around strangers. Although he doesn't initiate play or approach actively, he is comfortable with being touched. However, Evan displays some signs of separation anxiety, occasionally whining or barking for attention. It's important to spend plenty of time with Evan until he fully trusts his guardian. With dogs Evan tends to mimic the actions of his friends, showing little interest in new toys but finding spilled kibble by his friends during meals more appealing. As a growing puppy, he seems to be learning a lot by observing his friends. Evan has an easygoing personality, getting along well with everyone and avoiding conflicts rather than taking the lead. With cats Evan hasn't met or lived with cats before. Energy level Daydreamer Evan isn't very active. However, once leash training is complete, please provide him with appropriate exercise through a daily walk, allowing him to meet other dogs. It would be good to encourage Evan's curiosity with new toys and fun nose work games. Shedding/Barking Evan sheds moderately and occasionally barks in response to his friends, including some demanding barks. Needs help with Evan, being a puppy, needs ongoing training in various areas, such as recall, leash and potty training, and socialization. Similar to introducing objects step by step to a young child, guide Evan gradually in adapting to life with the family. Evan might occasionally display coprophagia (eating his own feces), a behavior common in young dogs. Please help identify the cause and assist in reducing this behavior. Health specifics Evan is healthy. Ideal family Evan has a calm and easygoing personality, making him adaptable to any home. However, as he's not very active and enjoys peaceful rest times, he would flourish in a quiet home as the only dog. If a guardian with a passion for daily play and training, covering everything from puppy manners to potty training, is there to guide Evan, he will quickly become a cherished family member. Evan is eagerly waiting to meet a family that will soon earn his boundless trust. More photos and videos https://www.instagram.com/#À§¾×Æ®¿¡¹Ý |
