Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do upon receiving a report. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. WEACT brought home 32 dogs, including #weact_brin.

Personality
A brief encounter with Brin creates fate and blossoms into love over time! If you ask someone who knows Brin, 'Can you share a word about her?' don¡¯t expect an instant response. It takes a moment, a face lit up with smiles, before words start to flow. Brin possesses the magical ability to turn the hearts of those she briefly meets into love. With affectionate eyes, she makes eye contact and occasionally boldly climbs onto people's laps. Brin enjoys sweet potatoes, eggs, and chicken feet! Be cautious, as she not only grabs treats from your hands but might also snag anything from your pocket! In September, Brin gave birth to #weact_avo, #weact_cado, #weact_moly, and #weact_nacho. When tired, she briefly steps away to catch her breath, eat, recharge, and then returns to feed her pups, showcasing her resilient motherhood. Please lend your support to Brin, who has completed her mom duties, as she emerges as the true protagonist of her own story. With people
Brin is friendly to everyone, regardless of age or gender. She enjoys one-on-one dates, basking in the attention and love she receives. Whether with a guardian or a volunteer from The Home, Brin thoroughly enjoys spending quality time together. Her eagerness to connect with people is evident; among the rescues from Hwaseong, she's one of the few who promptly responds when called by name. A photo of her in a red sweater during the holiday season caused a stir in the group chat, highlighting the hearts she has won over. Perhaps it¡¯s a testament to the love Brin consistently shares with everyone.

With dogs
Contrary to her overflowing affection and interest towards people, Brin doesn't show much interest in other dogs. She tends to get along well with friends of similar size, but she clearly expresses dislike for those who approach without proper manners. Brin takes care of her pups with great diligence and is generally affectionate, but she can assertively show a firm side if there's a need for teaching or correction. It's essential to observe and understand Brin's socialization as she encounters a variety of friends.

With cats
Brin hasn't met or lived with cats before.

Energy level
Brin was rescued while pregnant and has given birth. As she recovers and cares for her pups, we're still getting to know her basic activity levels. Currently, she shows a moderate level of activity compared to her friends. Brin has an 80% success rate on potty pads, but she prefers outdoor bathroom breaks, so regular walks will probably be necessary. If the door is open, she's eager to go outside, so please be cautious.

Shedding/Barking
Brin doesn¡¯t shed or bark much, but recently she sometimes barks when inside her kennel.

Needs help with
Brin is currently undergoing kennel training, but she tends to bark when inside. Therefore, it's crucial to practice keeping her calm in the kennel. While she's generally good with leash training at home, tension on the leash might make her uneasy. Brin is friendly and shares food and water with friends at the playground. However, around her pups, she may growl and gently snap if children or hands come near the food bowl. In these situations, protective behaviors may surface, so it's important to watch carefully. For the long term, she needs practice focusing on her guardian and learning to relax, gradually becoming desensitized to sights and sounds.

Health specifics
Brin gave birth to four pups in late September. She is currently recovering from patellar luxation surgery on both knees, so it's crucial to walk on flat surfaces and stretch regularly. Brin should also spend more time standing than sitting. The white area in her left eye is from a previous corneal ulcer that has naturally healed. It requires occasional prescribed eye drops and needs close monitoring.

Ideal family
Brin would find greater happiness in an environment brimming with the attention and affection of many people. Her optimal thriving scenario involves being the only dog in a large family or in a household with children ready to befriend a canine companion. A single-person household or a family with long work absences may not suit her, potentially leading to feelings of loneliness. Instead of being with other dogs, Brin's ideal situation is to be the cherished only dog, receiving abundant love from everyone. Having given birth and still in need of post-surgery rehabilitation, she needs a caring family to look after her health. Brin is waiting for a family capable of filling the previously unfulfilled space in her heart with love.
