Rescue story
In March 2021, WEACT received a distressing report about dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Following an emergency meeting, we immediately initiated an urgent rescue mission to Hwaseong. Twelve dogs were confined in cramped cages or tethered with short leashes, lacking access to food or clean water. Instead, they were forced to subsist on a bowl filled with rotten scraps. During the day, these dogs had to endure the cold, with their entire bodies soaked from rain and snow. At night, in pitch-black darkness where they couldn't see a step ahead, they had to fend for themselves, without anyone to rely on. With the assistance of RE:BIRTH and volunteers from across the country, WEACT successfully rescued all twelve dogs, along with three strays. Emerging from a harsh and frigid environment, #weact_marco is now experiencing a warm world for the first time.

Personality
Have you ever seen Marco tired? He possesses an incredible amount of energy; when outside with him, it's nearly impossible to keep up because he has so much to do! First, he exchanges greetings with other dogs, and then, as a celebration of arriving at the field, he dances with joy. Afterward, he runs around with his friends. Marco might have been an athlete with extraordinary stamina in a past life. While he gets along well with all dogs, he finds it challenging to interact with people. He is gradually learning by meeting different people, and with love, treats, and time from the family, he can overcome this. Life with the energetic Marco is sure to be filled with excitement!

With humans
The first thing you need to become friends with Marco is patience. He can get nervous if you approach with big movements, so it's advisable to approach him carefully and slowly. To make a good first impression, have some treats prepared in advance. Treats can boost Marco's confidence! He approaches people well when he has dog friends nearby, but he's a bit wary when alone. It's important to provide him with positive interactions with people.

With dogs
Marco gets along with all dogs! Regardless of gender and size, he likes them a lot and relies on their company. He shows affection to his friends, initiates play, and enjoys running around the field with them; he seems to really cherish his time with them.

With cats
Marco has never met or lived with a cat.

Energy level
Marco needs to go for walks at least twice a day or even more. Even as he runs around with his friends, rolls around in the grass, and moves endlessly, you can feel his overflowing energy.

Shedding/Barking
Marco barks when he hears unfamiliar sounds or sees unfamiliar people, and he sheds quite a lot.

Needs help with
Marco freely relieves himself both indoors and outdoors, but he has a low success rate with using potty pads, making consistent indoor potty training necessary. Due to his wariness of human touch, please help him gradually become comfortable with your touch through touch training. Marco enjoys the company of other dogs and relies on them a lot. However, it's important to prevent him from developing separation anxiety. Marco may attempt to jump out of his kennel or confined spaces, so teaching him patience would be beneficial. He may also feel nervous when placed on a leash and hesitate when exploring unfamiliar places during walks, so appropriate training is required. Teach him various manners to establish good relationships with people and other dogs, enabling him to integrate well into society.

Health specifics
Marco is healthy.

Ideal family
It would be wonderful to have an active and energetic family who is enthusiastic about sharing their energy through outdoor activities with Marco. Since Marco is always ready to go and full of energy, it's important to have the strength and stamina to handle unexpected situations. Teaching him to wait patiently in various situations will help him become more relaxed. If there are resident dogs at home, please ensure that Marco doesn't become overly reliant on them. He loves his dog friends so much that if separated, he may bark and search for them. When going on walks, using a double leash for safety is advisable. While Marco is spending time at The Home, he's gradually opening up to people as well. If you patiently wait at his pace, your family will become a priority for him. Marco eagerly awaits a lifelong family who can provide energetic days filled with various experiences.
