Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_penny, who was finally able to escape the harrowing world of a breeding operation driven by human greed and embrace a new life.

Personality
¡°Hello, my name is Penny! I¡¯m even more adorable in person!¡±
Thanks to her foster family, Penny is embarking on a journey filled with diverse experiences. From navigating complex cities to venturing into unfamiliar places for the very first time, she's mustering up courage bit by bit. She endures the taste of bitter medicine, and as she lies down by the sunny window to relish her personal moments, she exudes a sense of dignity. However, it's her occasional quirky behavior that truly shines as a charming trait, never failing to evoke laughter. But Penny's charm doesn't stop there! She consistently approaches her interactions with others with care, even contemplating how to engage with those who aren't particularly expressive. Additionally, when curiosity or happiness strikes, she gracefully sways her tail and moves leisurely, as if casting a magical spell that makes people feel at ease. Penny's charm is truly boundless!

With humans
Penny treats others based on their personalities. If the person is affectionate, she approaches them first and allows touch, but if she encounters someone reserved, she tends to grapple with how to approach. She enjoys people's company, yet she isn't always up for every shared activity; she's someone who relishes her own time and quietly expresses love.

With dogs
When other dogs approach Penny, she might feel scared. Please give her time to become familiar with the other dogs at her own pace.

With cats
While Penny has seen cats when she was being held, she didn¡¯t show much interest in them. However, please be aware that her reaction might differ when she actually meets one.

Energy level
Penny tends to enjoy relaxation leisurely, except when she's doing nose work or accompanying her foster family. Due to her low activity level, it's fine to take her for walks every 2-3 days. However, to provide Penny with diverse experiences, please gradually extending both the duration and frequency of these walks.

Shedding/Barking
Penny doesn't shed much fur and can bark to express her feelings or opinions.

Needs help with
Penny has a 75% success rate with potty pads, but continuous training is necessary to further minimize accidents. Although she¡¯s generally fond of people, she might feel scared when approached by those who pet her roughly. Certain actions, such as trimming the fur on the bottom of her paws or others she strongly dislikes or fears, could potentially result in defecation. Please take a gradual approach to teaching Penny the significance of actions without inducing fear.

Health specifics
Penny recently underwent surgery to correct her luxating patella and had some teeth extracted. Her current weight isn't conducive to managing her post-operative patella condition and also strains her airway, making weight loss essential for her overall well-being. She is on an allergy-specific diet due to severe allergies. Additionally, she suffers from nuclear sclerosis, a condition that causes her eyes to appear cloudy. Managing her intense eye discharge requires regular administration of eye drops, and Malassezia ointment is applied routinely to her paws, ears, and genitals.

Ideal family
Penny is in the process of learning to live alongside humans. When arriving at unfamiliar places, she may hesitate to go to the bathroom and feel uncomfortable, but she is making efforts to overcome this. To us, the small curb and the yellow lines on roads are ordinary, but for Penny, they can be quite scary. Therefore, a quiet home environment would be ideal for her. However, if someone from the city wants to adopt Penny, it would be perfect if they could invest enough time and patience to help her adapt slowly. She recently underwent spaying surgery and had her stitches removed, which is why she hasn't had a bath yet. When she eventually has her first bath, pour water slowly, starting from her legs, to avoid startling her. While Penny may not show a strong interest in toys, she enjoys using her nose for scent work with treats. Additionally, she loves being massaged. If you gently massage her ears, face, and legs, Penny will feel quite content. She might initially try to escape or resist activities like brushing her teeth, taking a bath, or taking medication, but she bravely faces these activities. We are seeking a lifelong family who understands Penny¡¯s true feelings beneath her charming appearance and is committed to taking meticulous care of her health.
