Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder’s possession. Among them was #weact_byeori, who was used for grooming practice, and she has finally come to face a brighter world.


Personality
With twinkling eyes that gleam like stars, Byeo-Ri possesses a pure and untarnished soul. Due to her young age and limited exposure to the world beyond the breeding facility, everything outside is unfamiliar to her. Byeo-Ri's unique advantage lies in her innocence, allowing her to readily approach new friends without a shred of hesitation. Her energy knows no bounds, yet she can seamlessly transition into deep slumber, bestowing a sense of serenity upon all. Byeo-Ri was forcibly used for grooming practice and was later rescued alongside other dogs that bore wounds across their bodies. She might have experienced trauma or stress related to grooming or baths, so please introduce her to these activities gently. Despite her desire to be loved by everyone, she lacks positive experiences with humans, often causing her to cower in fear at the mere approach of a hand and becoming so tense that she lies on the ground. It's essential to provide ample time to help Byeo-Ri build trust in humans and allow her cheerful personality to shine even in their presence.


With humans
Byeo-Ri is extremely affectionate and adores people. However, due to her cautious nature regarding human touch, please approach her slowly. Creating joyful experiences with people is of utmost importance for her.


With dogs
Byeo-Ri loves other dogs, but her time confined within the breeding facility during the critical socialization period has left her lacking in canine interaction. To ensure she approaches friends with lower energy levels cautiously and doesn't get overwhelmed by those with very high energy levels, it's important to observe and provide appropriate intervention. Nevertheless, Byeo-Ri is an exuberant pup who wants to play with other dogs.


With cats
Byeo-Ri has never met a cat.


Energy level
As Byeo-Ri is still a young pup, she requires at least two walks a day to expend her energy and gain various experiences.


Shedding/barking
Byeo-Ri doesn't shed much, but she does bark. She may bark if other dogs won't play with her or when she sees a treat-dispensing ball. Her current residence at The Home includes other dogs that can trigger her excitement, so her behavior may differ upon transitioning to a permanent home.


Needs help with
Byeo-Ri is currently in training as she has no prior experience with collars or leashes. It would be beneficial to maintain this training during walks, where she can also meet different dog friends and enhance her social skills. Indoors, Byeo-Ri tends to jump on people when they are sitting or holding food, so please discourage this behavior for the sake of her leg health. Given her limited experience with people, adapting to the role of a typical indoor pet right from the start may be challenging. Please accompany her through all these initial experiences.


Health specifics
Because Byeo-Ri grew up in an unclean breeding environment, she had to undergo eye drop administration for her conjunctivitis. However, she no longer exhibits symptoms.


Ideal family
Byeo-Ri is eagerly awaiting a family to guide her through the wonders of the world. Due to her sensitivity to loud noises and sudden sounds, if there are preschoolers in the household, they must learn to be cautious around her. It would be of immense benefit if her new family could provide her with a sense of security and comfort whenever she experiences fear. While many dogs rescued from breeding facilities tend to shy away from human touch, Byeo-Ri has a genuine fondness for people in general, despite her limited exposure as a young pup. Please extend to her gentle and affectionate touches, allowing her to experience the profound bond that exists between families and their pets. Byeo-Ri is eagerly anticipating a forever family that will embark on a transformative journey to reshape her life's path.
