Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder’s possession. Among them was #weact_gyeom, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.


Personality
If Gyeom were to be defined in three words, they would undoubtedly be positivity, love, and boundless energy! Spending a day with her would leave no room for boredom. Her day commences by emerging from a restful slumber and eagerly racing over to people for warm greetings. She bounds about to say hello, evoking images of a kangaroo! She then seeks out her doggy friends, exchanging cheerful morning greetings with them as well. Without a pause, Gyeom swiftly dashes to the outdoor field. Her daily life is a whirlwind of activity, yet her unwavering smile and innocent grin might truly cast her as an angel spreading happiness.


With humans
Gyeom had been abandoned by her previous family and subsequently lived tethered to a tight leash, yet she doesn’t dwell on her painful past. She has regained her trust in and affection for people, convinced that there must have been reasons behind their actions. Showering Gyeom with endless affection will make her extremely happy.


With dogs
Gyeom approaches other dogs with enthusiastic anticipation of playing together. However, she might come across as overwhelming to certain friends, making it a bit challenging for her to fit in. When she encounters dogs with a similar energy level to hers, she will run around and play to her heart's content.


With cats
Gyeom hasn't had the experience of meeting and living with cats, but considering her personality, it might be challenging.


Energy level
Gyeom loves running around, so providing her with a day full of diverse activities would be perfect. She becomes even more active when she's with her family, and any activity done together would bring her immense happiness. Given her high energy level, incorporating daily walks as frequently as possible would be highly beneficial. Taking her to a spacious outdoor area where she can enjoy off-leash activities would allow Gyeom to unleash her energy to the fullest.


Shedding/Barking
Gyeom doesn't shed much and tends to express her desires through barking.


Needs help with
Gyeom is good at finding the indoor potty pad, but she sometimes kicks it with her hind legs and then goes potty in front of it. Continuous training is essential to help her understand how to properly use these pads. Given her high energy level, helping her learn to relax would be really beneficial. it would be beneficial to teach her how to relax. She’s currently in the process of learning the “wait” command and enhance her ability to find greater comfort in her daily activities. Gyeom also has a habit of tugging on the leash during walks, so teaching her proper leash manners will make her walks more relaxed and enjoyable.


Health specifics
Gyeom underwent surgery for entropion. Please keep a vigilant watch to prevent any recurrence. Apart from that, she is in good health.
*Entropion refers to the edge of the eyelid curling inward towards the eye, causing fur to constantly touch the eye. This can lead to tear flow and eye rubbing.


Ideal family
A family that embraces a diverse range of activities and showers abundant love would be the perfect match for Gyeom. Despite having been wounded by human greed, she has not only granted forgiveness but also consistently expressed her affection towards them. Engaging her in various activities is key to keeping up with her boundless energy level. Although Gyeom gets along well with other dogs, if you're considering living together, it's crucial to consider compatibility with her dynamic and active nature. Gyeom handles baths well, but due to her recent eye surgery, it's vital to take precautions to prevent water from entering her eyes. Gyeom perceives the world with a positive outlook, and our earnest hope is that her forever family can not only preserve but also amplify her positivity through their boundless love.
