Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_kuku, who was finally able to escape the harrowing world of a breeding operation driven by human greed and embrace a new life. Personality Kuku has a lovely smile and radiates love! Even in the hell-like breeding facility, she remained unwavering in her pursuit of love. Now, in the comfort of The Home, she's finally unfurling the love she's held close to her heart for so long. When she meets people, she eagerly seeks closeness by jumping up and down, inviting you to lock eyes with her. Kuku seems to feel at ease when held, and just being with people makes her feel as if she has gained the whole world. Even during baths, she calmly embraces the touch of people, just like a true princess. She has a very good appetite, so diligent weight management is essential. With humans Kuku likes all humans. She's busy expressing affection to everyone in her space, while also seeking attention and love from them. She doesn't discriminate based on gender or age. When she's by herself, Kuku plays well, but when in the company of people, she actively expresses her love for them. With dogs Kuku's demeanor varies slightly depending on the size, temperament, gender, and age of other dogs, but there were no significant issues when integrating her with them at The Home. However, when dealing with persistent friends who approach despite her expressing dislike, she tends to issue warnings and assert dominance. Because this behavior can potentially lead to conflicts, it's important to monitor Kuku¡¯s behavior when she's with other dogs. With cats Kuku has never lived with a cat. Energy level After observing Kuku at The Home, it appears that she isn't a high-energy dog. Providing her with around an hour of daily walks would likely be sufficient. She promptly falls asleep in her spot after engaging in energetic play at The Home field. Shedding/Barking Kuku sheds fur and barks occasionally to get attention. Needs help with Kuku thoroughly enjoys interacting with people, making her quite responsive to instructions. With fundamental training, such as becoming accustomed to wearing a harness, walking with a leash, and responding to cues like 'house' to enter her designated area, she's likely to excel. However, given that this is her first experience living in a home, she will encounter numerous unfamiliar objects and protocols. Please introduce them to Kuku one by one. Health specifics Kuku eats hypoallergenic food to manage her allergic dermatitis. Having spent time in a confined space, she requires careful management of her weak patella. She has a habit of standing on her hind legs to demand attention, so please prevent her from doing so. Kuku has relatively narrow airways compared to other dogs. Although there has been improvement with consistent management, please refrain from using a collar to prevent any potential worsening. Ideal family Kuku is already prepared to be a loving and considerate family member. Regardless of how a person appears, she's filled with unwavering affection to share. Her deep affection for people makes us eager to see her thrive in a bustling household surrounded by numerous family members, fostering meaningful connections. However, Kuku would also find joy in becoming a valued member of a smaller family, provided they can dedicate ample time and unwavering affection to her.
