Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder’s possession. Among them was #weact_perro, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.


Personality
Perro is a gentle and introverted sweetheart who enjoys observing other dogs from a distance. Even when they playfully misbehave, she doesn't get mad; she simply watches. While she finds solace in relaxing within her crate, her demeanor changes when meeting people—she rushes over and leans on them, conveying her wish to unwind beside them. Instead of expending energy with other dogs, she seems to cherish moments of serene rest, basking in the warmth of human embraces and gentle petting. Sometimes, we're concerned about Perro's overt nonchalance, wondering if she might not even express her pain. If you notice even slight changes in her demeanor, kindly inquire about it. Knowing that her family consistently regards her with eyes brimming with love will undoubtedly bring immense joy to her.


With humans
Perro adores people, craving their attention and affection more than playing with other dogs. When people are around, she seeks their love and confirmation. To Perro, people are synonymous with love.


With dogs
Perro easily makes friends without becoming clingy. Whether it's a friend lacking manners or any type of friend, she takes it all in stride.


With cats
Perro hasn't met or lived with cats before.


Energy level
Perro's energy level isn't too high, so a single daily walk should suffice. Nonetheless, taking her out twice would be a nice way to ensure she doesn't spend all her time lying down indoors.


Shedding/Barking
Perro doesn't shed much. Having spent time in a breeding facility with numerous dogs, she does tend to bark a bit.


Needs help with
Perro might find adapting to home life challenging. To help her adjust to her new environment, start with potty training and be patient. She's currently practicing leash walking at The Home. Please continue the training to ensure she can confidently walk on a leash outdoors.


Health specifics
Due to inadequate dental care at the breeding facility, Perro's gums had receded so much that her teeth were excessively exposed. Therefore, she required multiple extractions. While she can still chew fairly well, it's advisable to monitor her digestion. Please provide diligent care to maintain her remaining teeth.


Ideal family
For Perro, who's lived a secluded life in confinement, discovering a family that can provide both physical and emotional recovery time would be wonderful. We hope her new family can offer comfort by acknowledging the hardships she's endured and handling her mistakes calmly. Despite not being young, all her actions resemble those of a young puppy, so please train her with patience, guiding her through each step. Perro adores receiving attention and being touched by people, and she's patiently waiting for a family to relax with.
