Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_porori, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.

Personality
Porori's previous living environment required her to be cautious and vigilant for her survival. Even the simplest things, like entering a kennel, made her suspicious. Nevertheless, she demonstrates courage by taking small steps out of the kennel or into the field, especially when provided with some space. With the right support tailored to her disposition, Porori displays a willingness to progress step by step, bringing smiles to those around her. In the beginning, she was apprehensive about interacting with other dogs and would often withdraw to quiet corners. While she still enjoys exploring independently and approaches new friends cautiously, she has recently started to playfully bounce around when she finds like-minded companions. During bath time, she may feel a bit anxious, but she generally follows her guardian's guidance calmly. Lately, she has even found her voice and started to bark during mealtime, gradually revealing her emotions. Much like the character in the comic "Bonobono," Porori is steadily making progress and looks forward to receiving your support on her journey.

With humans
Due to Porori¡¯s fear of humans, she would easily get startled by their movements and retreat to corners. Even now, strangers can be intimidating, but thankfully, she has grown more comfortable with the caregivers at The Home and can eat food and treats from their hands. She enjoys resting and napping in her kennel with her kind trainer. Lately, Porori has been hopping up on her trainer's body to reach for treats and showing curiosity by sniffing and playfully pawing at various things. While she hasn't completely overcome her fear of people, there are glimpses of her willingness to open up and engage in positive interactions.

With dogs
Porori is a peacemaker; she may shy away from eager dog friends and won't engage if they challenge her. However, she is gradually learning to interact with others in lively and social group settings. When she finds like-minded friends, she sniffs them and bounces around when she meets her friend, #weact_woolaf, in the field. Nonetheless, she still prefers exploring on her own rather than engaging in long play sessions with her friends.

With cats
Porori has never met or lived with cats.

Energy level
Porori needs to be walked at least once a day. Although she doesn't engage in active play in the playground or field, she shows interest in various things. She hops around when she meets a dog friend she likes, gradually increasing her activity level by attempting to jump over high obstacles in the field.

Shedding/Barking
Porori sheds and barks when other dogs or people pass by her kennel or when meals are being prepared.

Needs help with
Porori has a 50% success rate with using indoor potty pads. She has urinated on the bed before, so consistent potty training is necessary at home. Although she doesn't willingly enter the kennel, she now rests and sleeps in it. She's become comfortable with a collar but is still getting used to the leash.

Health specifics
Porori is missing some front teeth, so it's best to feed her small breed kibble. She had scabies, but her skin condition has greatly improved with consistent treatment.

Ideal family
Porori had a significant fear of people, which made her tense and unable to express herself. However, recently, her face has started to show signs of life. We hope a family will come along who can help her understand that people are not to be feared anymore. Living with humans may still be a bit unfamiliar and overwhelming for Porori, so providing her with rich experiences to gradually get to know her surroundings is essential. Given her age (around eight years old) and her physical condition, it's crucial to focus on her health. Above all, Porori is waiting for a lifelong family with an abundance of love to offer her.
