Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_lucky, who was finally able to escape the harrowing world of a breeding operation driven by human greed and embrace a new life.

Personality
Despite enduring a difficult past, where neglect and abuse were ever-present, Lucky possesses a remarkable ability to perceive the world with warmth. She adores showering people with licks on their faces and hands and finds a sense of security in their company. She especially enjoys being a lapdog and relishes belly and neck rubs. Lucky also loves her dog friends and eagerly approaches them to greet and play together. However, her past experiences have left her with separation anxiety. Having been confined in cages for breeding purposes, she must have longed for love and a caring family, which explains her constant desire to stay close to her foster family. She becomes anxious and cries when they go to the restroom or leave her sight. When left along in the house, she can bark and howl for about an hour. Though toys may not be her favorite, Lucky finds comfort in biting and shaking toys that make rustling sounds when she¡¯s feeling upset or bored. She loves to run during her walks and is well-behaved throughout the stroll.

With humans
Lucky really likes people and easily opens her heart to even those she meets for the first time. While she may show a preference for women over men, she remains gentle and composed when held.

With dogs
Lucky adores all her canine friends, regardless of size, temperament, or gender. She warmly welcomes every friend she meets, sometimes getting a bit too excited in their company. It¡¯s important to keep this in mind, but overall, she approaches everyone with love and affection.

With cats
Lucky has never met a cat.

Energy level
Lucky enjoys her walks, and it would be wonderful to take her out both during the day and at night. If she doesn¡¯t get walked at least twice a day, she might exhibit signs of stress, such as resorting to chewing on toys.

Shedding/Barking
Lucky doesn¡¯t shed much fur, and even during baths, there¡¯s minimal shedding. However, she tends to bark and howl a bit when left alone, but this behavior doesn¡¯t occur when she¡¯s with people.

Needs help with
Lucky adores her dog friends so much that she can become extremely excited, indicating the need for socialization training. During showers, wetting her legs gradually will help prevent her from running away. Also, please consider desensitizing her to hair dryers by using quieter devices until she becomes more comfortable.

Health specifics
Luck requires careful care and monitoring due to ear infections and coughs stemming from issues with her respiratory system.

Ideal family
If you didn¡¯t know about Lucky¡¯s past, you would simply perceive her as an affectionate dog who wags her tail whenever she sees people. She's a quick learner, so only a few training sessions are needed to guide her away from unwanted behaviors. Lucky isn¡¯t overly eager for human food and simply sniffs it. During mealtimes, provide her kibble from your hand first, and she¡¯ll eventually eat at her own pace. Due to her separation anxiety, it would be ideal for Lucky to find a family with many members and ample time to spend together. Being alone for long periods seems to be challenging for her. Although she adores her dog friends, having the sole affection at her home would help heal some deep-seated wounds in her heart as quickly as possible. While she may be tolerant of loud noises from the outside, household appliances like the vacuum cleaner or hairdryer frighten her. It would be advantageous to let her explore items inside the house at her own pace. Lucky is savoring happiness each day and eagerly looking forward to a family that will stay with her always.
