Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_toffee, who was finally able to escape the dark, stuffy breeding facility and embrace a new life.

Personality
¡°If I write a novel, the protagonist will be you and me!"
Toffee, who had been trapped in a continuous cycle of pregnancies and births within a breeding facility, was rescued along with her three adorable pups. After finding loving homes for her puppies, she now relishes her newfound freedom and embraces each day with joy. She loves sweet potatoes, incredibly tasty treats, and most of all, affectionate touches. Even though Toffee dislikes baths, she willingly accepts them when her family gives her a soothing massage. Watching her discover and enjoy things she likes one by one, it seems that she sees the world through a positive lens. Given that Toffee hasn't had the opportunity to live with humans before, challenges and uncertainties may arise. However, who's to say that they won't be conquered, one by one? Even though she was apprehensive during her first walk, she now strolls leisurely beside her family, savoring the scents and embracing the moment. With the support and love of her family, she will handle challenges with grace. Would you like to join her in writing exciting and happy stories that await?

With humans
Toffee truly loves people. While she might not immediately approach new individuals, she expresses her affection by welcoming their gentle touch. Due to past experiences of abuse, she might hesitate or be cautious around middle-aged men and women, but this doesn't imply that she dislikes them. Given enough time, she can befriend anyone. When you first meet Toffee, try softly touching under her chin and progress to stroking her head and body once she¡¯s more at ease.

With dogs
Toffee might feel a bit awkward around new dogs initially. But once she realizes they¡¯re a good match, she really enjoys their company and forms close bonds.

With cats
Toffee was spotted curiously observing cats before continuing her walk. It doesn't appear that she has a strong interest in them.

Energy level
Toffee requires walks at least twice a day. Because she prefers to go potty outside, taking frequent walks together would be fantastic. She strolls with a lively pace, taking in her surroundings and greeting other dogs. However, the primary reason she enjoys walks is likely because she gets to be with her family.

Shedding/Barking
Toffee sheds a bit and displays demand barking behavior. She's startled by the sounds of blinds and doors opening or closing, as well as the noise of a blender, and will bark in response.

Needs help with
Toffee prefers going potty outside, achieving a 70% success rate with indoor potty pads. Through consistent potty training, she will pick up quickly. Toffee is fearful of front doors; therefore, when going for walks, kindly carry her outside. As she becomes more comfortable in her new home, please focus on familiarizing her with the door. Approximately 30 minutes into the walk, she might gaze at you, indicating a desire to be picked up. Provide tender encouragement and pets, and she will happily continue her stroll!

Health specifics
Due to neglect and abuse from her previous owner, Toffee had dental issues so some teeth needed to be extracted. She requires diligent care for her remaining teeth. Her paw pads tend to get dry, so please apply moisturizer or balm after baths.

Ideal family
Toffee gets along well with other dogs, but her heart truly lights up for people. Therefore, a home without young children would be ideal, so she can soak up all the love and attention. Since she hasn't been around humans much, everyday sounds might startle her, and she could bark to find her family for comfort. If you're sensitive to barking, it might not be the best match. But, if you decide to work on helping her get used to these sounds, please take it slow. When Toffee first arrives at her new home, she might not eat much besides her food and water due to anxiety. As she gets more comfortable, she'll start enjoying treats so providing her with a space where she can relax and adjust in her own time is crucial. Toffee is searching for a lifelong family that will shower her with abundant love and support, helping her confidently face the world ahead.
