Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Through persistent persuasion and negotiation, we finally convinced the unscrupulous breeder to give up ownership. With the assistance of the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs in the breeder¡¯s possession. Among them was #weact_bono, who was finally able to escape the harrowing world of a breeding operation driven by human greed and embrace a new life.

Personality
"Hello! I'm Bono, who loves manners."
Bono is amazed by and values every new interaction with people, dogs, and the world. Try taking it slow with him, starting with greetings, then gentle touches, and gradually increasing physical contact. Fortunately, Bono really enjoys ear massages from people he knows, and he appears content when you stroke his chin as he falls asleep. When you hold him, he might yawn to express discomfort, but just as he became accustomed to being touched, if you go at his pace, things should improve. Keep in mind that Bono can get nervous when touched by unfamiliar individuals, so he might try to escape or nip to avoid the situation. He's a delicate and sensitive dog, so he may need some time to recover from stressful situations like visits to the vet. Being there for him and helping him feel calm can build trust. Given Bono's personality, when teaching him new things or introducing him to new experiences, it's best to break them down into small steps and repeat them one at a time to maintain his attention and focus.

With humans
When building a relationship, Bono follows his own set of rules and stages. He is a gentle dog who readily gives and receives touches, including affectionate kisses, from his foster family and those who understand his temperament and pace. While he hasn't spent much time outside due to ongoing vaccinations, he responds promptly when his name is called at home. However, if a stranger attempts to touch or hug him, he may growl and even nip. It's crucial to intervene promptly if someone tries to pet him without warning.

With dogs
Bono gets along well with dogs of all sizes. When playing with the foster family's large dog, it's as if there's a large dog's soul trapped in his small body.

With cats
Bono has never met or lived with a cat.

Energy level
Bono has an incredible amount of energy; he could probably play all day long, and no one has ever seen him tired. While he hasn't gone for outdoor walks yet, he is getting used to collars and does well with a leash. Once he starts going on walks, various outdoor activities will be needed to satisfy Bono's high activity level.

Shedding/Barking
Bono is currently shedding his puppy coat. He barks when he wants to play or when he's being stubborn.

Needs help with
Because Bono has a 60% success rate with potty pads, he requires ongoing potty training. When someone attempts to grab or lift him, he strongly refuses by growling or biting. This behavior appears linked to the painful treatment he experienced during hospital visits, so it's crucial to consistently address and prevent it. When Bono becomes excited and exhibits refusal, it is recommended to wait without reacting until the situation is resolved, rather than using a loud voice or reprimanding him.

Health specifics
Because Bono has dry skin, he tends to scratch his body.

Ideal family
Bono values how people treat him more than their age or gender when it comes to forming connections. So, please approach him with gentleness and patience. He may growl at individuals who touch him without consideration, so it¡¯s essential to protect him from such encounters. With time, he will become more comfortable with touch and gradually open up to others, one step at a time. Given Bono's temperament, adapting to a household with young children might pose some challenges. However, he generally gets along well with most dogs, especially larger ones. Therefore, a home with resident dogs could be an excellent fit for him. Bono yearns for a family that genuinely respects and cares for him, considering the difficult past he has endured due to human greed. He eagerly anticipates a new chapter where he can experience love and dedication, rather than simply being adored for his cute appearance.
