Rescue story
After receiving a tip about five abandoned dogs and the remains of another, WEACT went to a breeding facility in Ilpae-dong, Namyangju. It had been two years since our last visit, but the place appeared frozen in time, hardly different from before. The dogs' lives hadn't improved at all, suffering from neglect as the local authorities turned a blind eye. They were left to scavenge for food in constant hunger and forced into continuous breeding and birthing cycles. When the breeder became aware of our rescue attempt, he tried to secretly relocate the dogs under the cover of night. During this process, we also discovered and saved additional mother dogs and their pups hidden in nearby vacant lots, neighboring yards, and even inside homes. Thanks to the assistance of Namyangju Agricultural Technology Center officials, we were able to persuade the unscrupulous breeder to relinquish ownership. With support from the KK9 organization, we successfully rescued all the dogs under the breeder's care. Among them was #weact_jenna, who ended up at the breeding facility after being abandoned by her own family.

Personality
Jenna, with eyes that sparkle like Puss in Boots, loves people and effortlessly adapts to walks and home life. She's gentle and welcomes human touch, even during activities like bathing, grooming, and nail trimming. Finding joy in her guardian's affection, she expresses happiness by following them and wagging her tail. Although Jenna wasn't too interested in toys during her time in foster care, it's noted that she prefers her guardian. However, her attitude toward toys and belongings may vary depending on the environment due to her strong attachment. Jenna has a good appetite, but her love for treats means it's crucial to monitor her diet and weight. She goes potty both indoors and outdoors and achieves an 80-90% success rate on the potty pads. Her intelligence shines through, as she quickly learned that the bathroom in her foster home was the designated spot for relieving herself.

With humans
Jenna loves people, regardless of their gender or age. She initiates interactions with anyone, seeking affection. With her favorite guardian, she uses advanced charm and affectionate eyes to invite gentle touches. In her cozy and secure space that she considers 'home,' she shows protective behavior toward outsiders. Since Jenna hasn't been around babies, careful observation is needed to understand her attitude towards children.

With dogs
When Jenna is with other dogs at the playground, she usually gets along well, but she can be strict with those who are impolite. She tends to prefer friends with lower energy. If Jenna gets strongly attached to a specific guardian, she might feel jealous when other dogs approach. During her short time in foster care, she growled at the resident dog when it came near her temporary guardian, and sometimes she tried to approach dogs on walks aggressively. It's important to know that Jenna's attitude towards other dogs can change based on factors like their temperament and her own situation. Currently, at #WEACTTheHome, there are no specific issues, and treating Jenna indifferently when she's with other dogs helps create a relaxed atmosphere for her.

With cats
Jenna hasn¡¯t spent any time with cats, but while staying at the vet, the staff expressed the opinion that she seems to dislike them.

Energy level
If we categorize a dog's activity level as high, medium, or low, Jenna falls into the 'medium' range. While she enjoys playtime, she¡¯s quite fond of napping. At the playground, Jenna is the first one out, eager to explore by sniffing around and marking various spots rather than intense running. She also enjoys exploring every nook and cranny in the playroom. However, Jenna is known for her exceptional leash skills during walks. She follows her guardian's lead without much pulling and is well-behaved. While she can go potty both indoors and outdoors, she prefers outdoor pottying and going on several short walks to relieve herself.

Shedding/Barking
Jenna sheds, and when inside the kennel, she occasionally barks as someone passes by. She also exhibits demand barking, especially before mealtime.

Needs help with
During walks, Jenna sometimes insists on going a certain way. After a brief pause, she follows well when guided in the intended direction. In her kennel training, she is spending more time resting and sleeping inside. As Jenna forms an attachment to her guardian, she becomes protective around other dogs and may occasionally growl at those with poor manners. Hence, careful attention is needed during socializing to avoid any unpleasant incidents. Indoors, she may cry for attention when people pass by outside, so proper training is essential to prevent this behavior from turning into separation anxiety.

Health specifics
Jenna had large tumors on her neck and chest, and the surgery included removing the mass in her chest, lymph nodes, and two mammary tumors. Currently, she visits the vet monthly, takes medication, and requires continuous health management. Given Jenna's frequent water intake, it's important to ensure there are plenty of water bowls available for her at all times. Keep in mind that excessive excitement or sudden jumping may lead to vomiting.

Ideal family
Jenna thrives in indoor living and enjoys walks, ensuring she will undoubtedly lead a harmonious life with people. Whether in a quiet or lively home, she appears adaptable and likely to thrive in various environments. However, considering her limited interaction with children, a family that understands and is considerate of Jenna's situation might be a better fit. Jenna showers abundant affection on her preferred person but can display jealousy towards other dogs approaching them. Therefore, we hope she can receive proper guidance on managing this behavior. Jenna still needs to have remaining tumors removed, and her skin, which underwent surgery, requires consistent care. Staying actively involved in her regular veterinary care is crucial for her continued well-being and safety. With her joy in forming relationships with people, Jenna eagerly awaits a family to embark on a wonderful journey of life together.
