Rescue story
WEACT received a video report in June 2021, which clearly showed a blatant violation of animal protection laws: a person hanging a live dog and brutally murdering it by setting it on fire with a torch. We arrived at the scene early the next day, but the dog in the video had already been slaughtered. The remaining dogs on the scene were trapped in cages, forced to watch in horror as their friend met a tragic death in a blazing cauldron after cruel torture. WEACT rescued the nine surviving dogs who had lived in fear, reported the perpetrator for violating animal protection laws, resulting in a fine, and secured a commitment from the local government office to dismantle the illegal facility that operated as a slaughterhouse. One of the survivors, #weact_lady, was rescued from the living hell of the #EumseongSlaughterHouse.

Personality
Lady, despite her name suggesting otherwise, is a mischievous and lively character with an outgoing and playful temperament. She enthusiastically declares her love for people, playtime, and food. Happily, she runs towards people and quickly expresses affection even with just a short playtime. However, she finds it challenging to focus and follow commands or activities that involve communication, or adhering to a set routine, such as leash walking. Lady is happiest when eating and playing, and even a little excitement quickly turns into energetic runs in the field. She recently even broke her toenail while running. She enjoys playing with toys and occasionally expresses possessiveness, growling, and attempting to bite to protect them from other dogs. She is generally tidy and doesn't make a mess in her surroundings. While she can use indoor potty facilities, she prefers relieving herself outdoors.

With humans
Lady seems to have no aversion to people. She is generally open to being touched by strangers or those she doesn't know well. However, she hasn't learned to approach people gently or greet them properly, and her high excitement level often leads her to enthusiastically run towards anyone in sight. While Lady tends to approach women more energetically, she is somewhat less excited with men. She hasn't met any children yet.

With dogs
Lady appears aggressive towards other dogs regardless of their size. To assess accurately, one needs to closely observe her in various situations.

With cats
Lady has never met cats.

Energy level
Lady is very lively and engages in a considerable amount of activity. She needs to be walked at least twice a day to meet her exercise needs. When the trainer played with her using toys for over 15 minutes, she seemed a bit tired. Apart from playing energetically to match Lady's energy, she hasn't appeared tired at any other time.

Shedding/Barking
During shedding season, Lady sheds a lot. Frequent brushing is necessary for grooming and hygiene. When her friend, #weact_wolfie, goes outside, she barks, expressing a desire to go out as well. Additionally, she barks defensively at other dogs or at the sound of cars, and when she sees people outside the fence.

Needs help with
When Lady wears a leash, she tends to get a bit restless. It's recommended to put on the leash calmly while she's still in her kennel or while she's sitting. Lady tends to pull forward during walks, especially when she sees other dogs, toys, or women. We're currently training her to walk without getting overly excited, using techniques like turning or offering rewards to discourage the behavior. When Lady is really excited, it's better to set rules with treats instead of just using verbal commands. She tends to jump around when she sees people, so it's important to discourage this behavior for the sake of her legs and help her calm down. Once we have better control over her playfulness, it would be good to teach her how to play with people in a more controlled manner.

Health specifics
Lady is healthy.

Ideal family
Lady loves running towards people to play, but as a medium-sized dog, it might be overwhelming for some. It'd be great if the family could adapt to this behavior, gradually calming Lady down and connecting with her in a similar way. To encourage Lady's friendly and energetic nature, focus on fun play, active exercise, and outdoor activities regularly. In the long run, teach Lady good manners for happy relationships with family, people, and other dogs. Despite challenges, Lady has warmed up to the world and is looking forward to joyful with her family.
