Rescue story
In December 2019, the #SiheungDogFarm entered the spotlight as the story of Yumi emerged—a dog that miraculously escaped with extensive burns covering its entire body. Another animal welfare organization initially launched a rescue operation, but on Christmas Day, the owner transferred all the animals to a different dog farm. Although their whereabouts remained elusive, persistent efforts eventually convinced the farm owner to surrender them. However, the time spent in slaughterhouses had inflicted profound trauma on these dogs. Taking charge of the situation, WEACT and volunteers provided ceaseless day and night care, leading to the successful rescue of 65 animals from the #SiheungDogFarm. Due to their profound trauma and injuries inflicted by humans, it necessitated an extended period of time and heightened effort to rehabilitate them. Even four years down the line, WEACT remains steadfast in its mission to facilitate the adoption of dogs from #SiheungDogFarm. #weact_willis was one of the rescues from this very location.

Personality
¡°Here¡¯s to a bright day tomorrow!¡±
For the adorable three-year-old Willis, world is full of new and exciting things! He¡¯s a diligent learner, and even when faced with challenging problems, he calmly makes efforts to overcome them. After completing classes to become accustomed to walking and human touch, he moves onto playtime. Willis loves playing with dog friends, but when meeting new ones, he's the first to greet them. He also wishes to befriend people and ask about their favorite foods and the best moments of their day, but it seems he still needs more time. There are moments when he hesitates and feels a bit fearful, but what keeps Willis going is the bright tomorrow that awaits him.

With humans
Willis is making a brave effort to become comfortable with human touch, so we kindly ask for your patience. He's quite curious about people, often circling around them or following those who have treats. Nevertheless, he still carries some fear that they might harm him, making it challenging for him to accept human touch. Occasionally, he may even growl or display signs of aggression. It's important to developing a deep understanding of Willis during this learning phase.

With dogs
Willis gets along well with dogs of all sizes and genders. He enjoys sniffing his friends and running around with them. However, since he approaches smaller friends without hesitation, they may find him intimidating. Therefore, it's important to monitor and be ready to intervene to prevent any potential conflicts.

With cats
Willis has never met or lived with a cat.

Energy level
Willis enjoys exploring and calmly sniffing his surroundings. When he meets compatible dogs, he happily runs around with them. He's also quite curious about people; even when playing with friends, he often lingers around them. This suggests that he might enjoy outdoor activities with people. Willis requires at least two walks a day, and since he can get nervous in narrow or unfamiliar places, gradually expanding his walking routes will be beneficial.

Shedding/Barking
Willis sheds and may bark or howl at sounds. In fact, he can be quite a chatterbox.

Needs help with
Willis is currently in the process of learning to live with people. We kindly ask for your patience as he may make mistakes along the way. He's potty trained for both outdoors and indoors, but his success rate with potty pads is 50%. To avoid any confusion, providing him with proper potty training is essential. Willis is sensitive to touch, especially around his rear, during brushing, or when putting on a leash, and he may occasionally growl. However, we can use his love for kibble and treats to help him become more comfortable with touch. He's fine with the leash being put on in a confined space, and we can work on helping him understand its purpose. During walks, Willis may become anxious if the leash becomes tense. He's currently undergoing training at The Home to improve his walking experience, and consistent efforts will help him become a master at walking.

Health specifics
Willis is very healthy.

Ideal family
Willis is shy around people, but he's curious. He may seem a bit awkward at first with new people, but he quickly finds his own way to express interest. However, sudden movements and touch can make him fearful, so households with very young children may not be the best fit. Willis enjoys playing with other dogs, so those with resident dogs would be a good match, although compatibility should be carefully considered. Rather than learning from other dogs, Willis is highly focused and performs well during solo training sessions. Moreover, his love for kibble and treats motivates him to actively participate. Nonetheless, please be cautious as he can be quick to snatch treats; hand-feeding slowly is a better approach than tossing them on the ground. Willis is still getting used to human touch, so giving him a bath might be challenging. Nevertheless, he adores water and can't resist splashing around in ponds during walks. He even opens his mouth wide when someone turns on the water hose. Willis is starting to discover his preferences, and he eagerly awaits a lifelong family who can guide him through various experiences and shower him with love.
