Oreo is a female beagle, approx 5-6 years old, rescued from the Gimpo Dog Farm.
Oreo is still overcoming the effects of the conditions she lived most her life under. She is still learning how to interact with other dogs, so she might be better off in a home on her own. She needs patience and reassurance, and sometimes might be a bit difficult at home. Her new family would need to understand this, and show a lot of affection to her.
She likes attention from people, and is willing to approach them and receive affection. With children, if they crowd her sometimes she will react to them and bark, but if she has the chance to spend more time with them, she will quickly learn to love being around little people too.
She will react to other dogs approaching her first, and needs more socialization training and experience.
She does not show much interest in cats, and could coexist in mutual indifference in one space.
Oreo tends to get tired easily because she is bit overweight, but she needs at least one good walk a day.
There is some hair loss, as is typical for beagles. She barks because of her separation anxiety, and if she is crowded by children or other dogs.
Needs to work on
Because of the conditions she lived in before, Oreo has some separation anxiety. She can be possessive with food and snacks - she doesn’t react aggressively but needs some training here. She also does not like being outside in noisy environments, and may refuse to continue walking if she is not comfortable. She is being housetrained, both indoors and out, as well as getting some crate-training to help with her separation anxiety.
Oreo is showing early stages of cataracts, and needs to use anti-inflammatory eye drops for the rest of her life. She is also susceptible to ear infections, so her ears need regular cleaning, once every couple of days. She has been spayed, and her vaccinations are in progress.
