Rescue Story
The owner of the dog farm at Hyangsan-ri 435 was keeping dogs for the purpose of receiving livestock compensation once redevelopment of the area began. 40 or so dogs, some of them just puppies, had been born and living in dirty cages and on top of piles of filth, managing to survive by eating food waste. The owner of the farm quickly disposed of most of the dogs by moving them to a different dog farm. #weact_pablo was one of the remaining dogs that we found there, and that’s how he ended up in WEACT’s care.


Personality
Pablo doesn’t stay shy for long. He’s super adorable and affectionate around his aunties and uncles! When his favorite aunties approach, he’ll greet them by vigorously wagging his tail, pinning back his floppy ears, and doing a little dance with his butt as if to say, "I was waiting for you!" The magic key to unlocking Pablo's heart is treats – he’ll lick the hands of women he’s seeing for the first time if they smell like treats.


With humans
If you lower your body and approach him slowly, Pablo will start to feel more comfortable and come to you. He finds strangers and men scary to be around. But if you’re patient, he’ll make eye contact with his sweet eyes and give you lots of affection. After you’ve spent a bit of time with him, you’ll also get to witness his powerful helicopter tail in action!


With dogs
Pablo gets along well with his friends at #WEACTthe home, but he hasn’t spent any time with smaller dogs yet. He also needs a bit of time when he’s first getting to know a dog, as he tends to get to know them slowly and cautiously and really values politeness. That's why he prefers to spend time with calm, gentlemanly dogs over rambunctious puppies.


With cats
Pablo has never met a cat.


Energy Level
Pablo is very energetic and loves to mark, so he needs at least two or three walks a day. The more he plays, the more energy he seems to produce. He has a tendency to mark his kennel, so it would be best to make it a habit for him to go potty outdoors. Once he befriends a human, he likes to stick right next to them to play with them, so it’d be great if you could spend a lot of time playing together at home.


Shedding/Barking
Pablo sheds, but that’s no different from other Jindo mixes.


Needs help with
Pablo still finds men scary. It would be ideal if you could create opportunities for him to meet a variety of people so he can learn to be comfortable and happy around people, regardless of their gender. Pablo also needs help learning to walk in step with his guardian. He’s great at putting on the leash, but because he’s so full of energy, he tends to try to pull ahead. More training in this regard will make walks safer and more enjoyable. We anticipate that he’ll quickly learn the command “kennel” as he’s good about going in if you guide him towards it.


Health Specifics
Pablo is healthy.


Ideal family
Pablo gets along well with all different kinds of dogs, so he’d fit right in at a home with other dogs, but it would be best if the other dogs were calm and not too rambunctious. Since Pablo is quite energetic, he’d ideally live with a family who can regularly take him for walks. Before returning to The Home, Pablo spent a long time learning to be in his kennel and getting his meals in there. He’s accustomed to eating in his kennel, so it would be best if his family could continue this practice once he’s adopted. Pablo doesn't like being approached or touched suddenly, so we’re looking for a family who understands that he needs time to get to know strangers. If you can patiently wait for Pablo to adjust to his new home, you'll be treated to the adorable sight of his ears being drawn back and his tail wagging in circles!
