Rescue Story
Lumi was rescued from the worst of the absolutely miserable conditions at the Namyangju Puppy Mill, When Lumi was rescued, she had never seen the light of day. This is how she spent her days, used like an object, suffering in pain without end. She had never even dreamed of seeing the light of the sun, breathing fresh air, or walking on flat ground. But last winter she at last gained her freedom, and had the chance to feel the sun on her face. And as she has opened her eyes, she has revealed herself to be such a gentle, loving soul. Now all she needs is someone to give herself to, and find the peace she has longed for.


Personality
Lumi has a very quiet and calm personality, and she responds well to the same kind of approach. She likes the slow life, leisurely strolls, sniffing away, contentedly. She gets along perfectly well, thank you, with both dogs and cats, but you will not find her chasing around the playground! She may seem shy at first, but she really is a sponge for affection, and the trust and bond with you builds she will want every bit of love she can get from you. But she does still show a bit of timidness around new people – if she feels uncomfortable she will lower her tail and back away, so slow and steady is the mantra. She doesn’t really seek out excitement, but once she’s seen something new or been in a new environment, she is usually fine. She doesn’t make much a fuss about anything. She doesn’t show any anxiety in her crate, but even if she is fine when she’s put inside, she hasn’t come to see it as a sanctuary yet. She’s not possessive at all about her food or treats, apart from a few muted protests. But bath-time, nail-clipping, brushing – she is willing to put up with all of these. She is the definition of low-maintenance! The only other thing to be careful with is when she gets startled – and this can still happen quite easily. But overall, with such a chill disposition, she can really fit in anywhere!


With humans
While she may not be the biggest “people-person” she allows new people to touch her if they give her a little time and space to get settled around them. She’s also fine with attention from children, in moderate doses. But again, given her nature, she is easily startled by unexpected sudden actions, something to keep in mind at home as well.


With dogs
Lumi gets along well with other dogs. but, intially she may play hard to get, and act pretty indifferently when she is approached. But that’s just her gauging the situation a bit! She isn’t too proactive about making friends, but she will quickly reach a state of mild distinterest.


With cats
It’s a case of live and let live with cats . she’s prefectly fine with them, but seems to match their lack of interest.


Energy Level
Perfect manners on the leash! In keeping with her low-key character, you won’t find Lumi in a big hurry to get anywhere. At home, she doesn’t move around much, and even a 10-20 minute walk, just enough to get the kinks out, will see her ready to stretch out for another little snooze.


Shedding/Barking
She barely sheds at all, and will never disturb her peace by barking.


Needs help with
Lumi is perfectly housetrained, but prefers her outdoor bathroom breaks, so she would appreciate you syncing schedules with her! Apart from this, it’s just a matter of patience and getting her out and about to see the world a little bit at a time – take care of her in new places, especially places that can be a bit overwhelming for her, and be gentle and consistent with her training.


Health Specifics
Overall, her health is very good, no issues or leftover ill effects of her captivity!


Ideal family
Lumi is the definition of low-key, and she will be an amazing companion for someone who enjoys the slow life as much as she does. Her ideal home might be a quiet and secluded environment, rather than a house with small children. It may seem like she is a bit distant, but all she needs is a bit of time before she is ready to give you her heart. So now Lumi waits, for a family to fill her heart, and at long last, after so much that she’s been through, to give her the gift of peace for the rest of her days.
