Rescue story
In the late summer of 2024, as the heat lingered, WEACT headed to a "home" in Busan. Upon arriving and opening the door, we were met with a scene of various household trash and filth, leaving no space to step. When we opened the refrigerator, the bodies of dead dogs poured out. The stench and gases from the decaying bodies left at room temperature made our eyes and noses sting. One dog lay on the floor among the crawling cockroaches, struggling to breathe; another, a younger dog, peeked out from a pile of feces; and yet another, covered in hardened waste-like armor, was unrecognizable. For the first time, these neglected dogs, including #BusanAnimalHoarder rescue dog #weact_nike, were able to step outside and breathe clean air. Most of them were in a frail state, weighing less than 3 kg. In this tragic scene, once misleadingly called a "home," WEACT rescued 14 dogs, including #weact_nike. WEACT is committed to finding them a true home that lives up to its name.


Personality
Whoever gives me yummy treats? Is a good human! With ears like a little doll and eyes as deep as the ocean, Nike is a charming little prince. At first, he was a bit shy in his foster home and would hide in the kennel due to the new surroundings. However, he quickly adjusted and began showing his true self—a huge foodie! When he hears a rustle, his eyes sparkle, and he starts asking for a "treat tax." Be careful—his adorable puppy eyes might just overcharge you!


With humans
Nike is full of curiosity about people and loves human touch, but at first, he might be a little shy. However, with a little time, you’ll get to see his very own 3-step charm routine!


With dogs
Nike, with his wonderful personality, is the kind of sweet friend who says, "We’re all furiends!”

Energy Level
Nike doesn’t have much experience with walks yet, so it would be best for him to take one gentle walk a day until his training is complete.


Needs help with
Nike needs some training with walks and kennel use. He might feel a little nervous in unfamiliar places, but with the power of love and patience, he’ll quickly catch on, just like the clever boy he is!


Health specifics
Nike has grade 2 patellar luxation in both his left and right knees, as well as partial cruciate ligament tears. He also has a history of kidney surgery. Additionally, Nike tends to get carsick, so he will need rest during long trips.


Ideal family
Nike, smart and quick to adapt, sometimes shows his quirky and adorable side, spreading laughter and joy to his family. He’ll need a little time to adjust before fully showing his charm, so a calm environment where he can have some alone time is ideal. If there’s a friendly dog companion around, Nike would likely learn a lot from them and they could lean on each other for support. After overcoming some tough situations, we hope Nike finds a family who can shower him with all the love he deserves.
