Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do upon receiving a report. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. WEACT brought home 32 dogs, including #weact_arin. Personality Meet Arin, the lively protagonist of a romantic comedy series. She's full of energy and constantly on the move! While Arin loves people, she doesn't actively seek attention or physical affection. Instead, she revels in the simple joy of companionship and expresses her happiness by running around. In her moments of bliss, Arin's pure soul remains untouched by worry or fear as she dreams of brighter days ahead. Like a resilient protagonist who never gives up, Arin will continue to shine until she finds her forever family. With humans While Arin adores people, she has an independent nature, preferring to play with them rather than being a lap dog. Though she may seem shy at first, she quietly shows affection once she warms up. Arin doesn¡¯t like her front paws touched during grooming and generally dislikes her body being handled by people. While she may tolerate being held in necessary situations, she¡¯ll squirm and show signs of discomfort if held unsteadily by an unfamiliar person. Therefore, understanding Arin's feelings and communicating with her are crucial. With dogs Arin doesn't typically show interest in other dogs initially. When she encounters them during walks, she may freeze momentarily. However, she strives to assess the situation calmly without barking. If she finds a friend who matches her personality and invites her to play, she gets along well. Once she feels at ease, she openly expresses her desires. Therefore, family support is crucial to nurture her sociability. With cats During walks, Arin has come across cats, but she simply looks at them without barking or showing any excitement. It seems like she doesn't have much interest in cats. Energy level Arin is highly energetic and loves to explore her surroundings. Due to her active nature, she goes for walks twice a day and enjoys indoor nosework games. When she's indoors and feels bored, she may eagerly signal to her family for playtime. Please ensure she has sufficient play and walking time to help her release her energy. Shedding/Barking Upon entering her foster home, Arin used to howl if her primary caregiver, with whom she had developed a strong bond, was absent. Over time, this behavior subsided, but she still requires sufficient time to get acquainted with new people. Except for when she's startled, her barking is minimal, and she sheds very little. Needs help with Arin, who was gradually learning with her foster family, showed remarkable learning ability. She attempts to use the potty pads regardless of location and knows how to rest calmly in a vehicle for outings. While she walks well, Arin becomes anxious when walking with unfamiliar people. Therefore, please ensure she builds sufficient rapport before taking her for walks. Health specifics Rescued from a hostile environment, Arin tested positive for coronavirus and is at risk of developing chronic inflammatory bowel disease. Furthermore, she displays circling behavior in one direction. Despite these challenges, her foster family's love and care have led to daily improvements. Her COVID symptoms do not indicate strong transmission or infectivity, so once she regains her energy, she should make a full recovery. Therefore, it's important to consistently monitor her health and establish a stable routine to address her dietary requirements, environment, and stress levels. Ideal family With her cheerful personality and resilience, Arin is likely to adapt well to any home. It's crucial to acknowledge and respect her independent nature by allowing her some freedom under supervision. While she may initially resist having her front paws touched during grooming, she's gradually becoming more accustomed to handling. Arin dislikes blow dryers and may retreat to her kennel, so it¡¯s important to be patient. Keeping her active outdoors is essential to manage her energy levels and maintain a healthy weight. Arin isn't particularly inclined to make new animal friends and may thrive as the sole pet in a household. Although her circling behavior, stemming from past trauma, has significantly improved with the care of her foster family, it's important to be mindful of potential triggers in new environments. A family that can provide companionship and engage in outdoor activities with her would be wonderful! Arin eagerly awaits a responsible and committed family to support her in this new chapter of her life! More photos and videos https://www.instagram.com/weactthehome/ |
