Rescue story
WEACT received a report that dogs were being neglected in a shed in Mungyeong. The previous owner was ignorant of the importance of sterilization and failed to provide proper care. Due to uncontrolled breeding, there was overpopulation. The dogs were standing in their own feces, barely surviving on contaminated water and food. It took three separate trips to rescue a total of 48 dogs, and #weact_woolaf was one of the survivors to finally take a step outside the dreadful shed.

Personality
"I¡¯m the coolest leader! Call me Woolaf."

Woolaf, with his soft cream-colored fur, is full of energy. He loves running around the park with friends and engaging in playful activities with toys. When he meets a friend who connects with him, Woolaf enjoys sharing treats and expressing his affection. Did you know that he is a master of playing hard to get? In the presence of people, he effortlessly captures their attention with his adorable appearance and gracefully circles around as if drawing closer. It¡¯s natural to be tempted to reach out, pet him, and hold him tight, but please exercise a bit of patience! Woolaf seeks a moment to ponder, circling around you, contemplating whether it¡¯s the right time to approach. Once he concludes his musings, he will approach you to introduce himself!

With humans
While Woolaf is curious about people, he also harbors fear. The experiences prior to being rescued may have left scars, resulting in his limited trust in people. However, during his time at The Home, he has been slowly opening his heart and cautiously approaching people. Exciting news! Recently, if you approach Woolaf slowly, he's even open to gentle touches. While he may nip or feign a bite as a warning when he feels threatened, he doesn't use excessive force or exhibit aggressive behavior. It¡¯s important to give Woolaf sufficient time to let his guard down and realize that people can be loving and trustworthy. With patience and understanding, it is possible to develop a friendship with him!

With dogs
Woolaf has a tendency to assert his dominance over friends who are similar to or weaker than him, so please keep a close eye on him to prevent conflicts. However, it¡¯s important to note that he doesn¡¯t actually enjoy fighting. It¡¯s simply a result of his limited experience in socializing with others. When Woolaf encounters a friend who connects with him, he willingly shares his favorite toys or treats. Recently, he has become best buddies with #weact_max. They tend to play rather rough, possibly due to their limited exposure to different play styles. As Woolaf continues to build relationships with dogs of varying personalities, he will likely develop a preference for a variety of play styles, ranging from gentle to wild.

With cats
Woolaf has never met a cat.

Energy level
Woolaf is highly active and requires regular walks at least twice a day. However, during walks, he may try to turn back to familiar paths or display fear towards unfamiliar places. It is recommended to begin with shorter routes to help him adjust and gradually build confidence.

Shedding/Barking
Woolaf's cream-colored fur is prone to shedding and tangling. Regular brushing will help keep it well-maintained. Additionally, he may occasionally bark to communicate his needs or express his emotions. When some friends bark in response to other friends going outdoors, he joins in, driven by a desire to go out as well.

Needs help with
Woolaf tends to mark indoors and has a low success rate with potty pads. When his neighboring buddy changes or when he encounters an unfamiliar environment, he exhibits anxiety by marking inside his kennel. He will require consistent indoor potty training. When approaching a stronger dog friend, Woolaf does so politely, but with friends of similar or weaker disposition, he may engage in fights to assert dominance. Ongoing training is essential to facilitate friendly interactions with all dog friends. Due to his limited experience with people, Woolaf may perceive human touch as a threat and may respond by growling or biting. Please approach him slowly to help him understand that human hands won't cause harm.

Health specifics
Woolaf is very healthy!

Ideal family
When Woolaf is around other dogs, he becomes more active and relies heavily on their presence, although this can vary depending on the gender and temperament of the dogs. For households with existing dogs, it would be ideal to assess the temperament of both dogs, test their compatibility, and provide appropriate training. Woolaf is sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, so if he makes any mistakes, please take your time to teach him one step at a time instead of scolding him right away. This approach will help him better understand the situation and the intended meaning behind actions. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers and crew members at #WeActTheHome, he has gained courage and gradually opened up. Woolaf is now looking for a forever family who can accompany him through life and take care of him with a strong sense of responsibility.
