Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT received a crucial tip and headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. WEACT brought home 32 dogs, including #weact_angie.

Personality
Our kind and gentle Angie is like a huggable fairy! She adores people, and her special talent is exuding a gentle charm. She relishes being cuddled, readily nestling into your arms without hesitation. Whether it's bath time, grooming, or everyday affection, she embraces human touch with open-hearted trust and affection. On the way to the vet, she didn't experience much car sickness, and her overall temperament suggests she's not particularly sensitive or anxious. However, it's worth noting that Angie has only recently emerged from isolation following her rescue, so there may be many more facets of her personality that she has yet to reveal.

With humans
Angie prefers people to dog friends. She has an affable nature and gets along well with most people, regardless of their gender. Angie has a pure heart, never doubting the attention and love directed towards her by people. As of now, she hasn't had the opportunity to meet children.

With dogs
When Angie engaged in playtime with other dogs after arriving at The Home, she was a bit shy and often hid in the corner. These days, she freely roams around, yet she still values her alone time and doesn't actively seek out lively activities. Consequently, she doesn't start fights or bother others to play with her.

With cats
Angie has never met a cat.

Energy level
It might change as soon as Angie starts going for outdoor walks, but currently, she isn't particularly active or fast. Her activity level is moderate.

Shedding/Barking
Angie doesn't shed much or bark without reason.

Needs help with
Angie is currently in the process of learning to relax inside her kennel, although she's not able to find it on her own. She has yet to start wearing her harness and leash and going on walks. Since she doesn't respond to her name, recall training is necessary. It is crucial to work on various commands and manners, ensuring both her happiness and safety.

Health specifics
Angie has a grade 1 left patellar luxation, which requires ongoing care and monitoring.

Ideal family
Seeing Angie stand out as a calm presence and effortlessly maintaining her composure at the bustling The Home, she would thrive in any loving home environment. If you have a dog at home, a chill buddy with a similar vibe to Angie would be perfect. And if she's your only pet, that's wonderful too! We hope Angie finds herself surrounded by an affectionate family that aligns with her easygoing and peaceful temperament.
