Rescue story
In the summer of 2023, WEACT headed to a breeding facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do upon receiving a report. Despite having official government approval, the scene was more distressing than anything we had witnessed before. It was filled with severe abuse, illicit euthanizations, unauthorized c-section procedures, and other unlawful practices. Dogs with ruptured eyes, injured limbs, and such severe emaciation that they were in a state of shock were discovered. These unfortunate dogs had endured continuous breeding within cramped cages, with their lives disregarded, devoid of any compassion. Drawing from the evidence gathered at the scene and the tips we had received, WEACT confirmed the harrowing act of using a box cutter to open a mother dog's belly to extract the puppies. We also uncovered a freezer containing over 100 dog carcasses wrapped in newspaper. When the freezer became too crowded, the dogs were illegally buried in the nearby mountains. Initially estimating around 800 dogs at the site, we were ultimately astounded to discover a staggering total of 1,426 dogs. Fortunately, the dedicated efforts of approximately 20 fellow organizations who swiftly offered their assistance, volunteers from across the country, various government agencies, and the cooperation of Gyeonggi-do provided invaluable support for the rescue mission. Together, we achieved an unprecedented miracle by saving all the abused dogs. After being rescued, #weact_brin gave birth to #weact_avo, #weact_cado, #weact_nacho, and #weact_moly at The Home.

Personality
Avo can be anyone or anything! She overflows with love but is a bit timid. However, she's gradually overcoming her fears one by one. Initially, she found it challenging to approach other dogs besides her siblings, but now she wins everyone's hearts in her own way. She is calm and delicate, requiring time to adapt, but she bravely explores her path by choosing from various methods. During playtime, Avo showcases a variety of scenes—standing on two legs like a lion in The Lion King or rolling around like the protagonist in an action movie. Avo is stepping out of familiar and comfortable places, embracing challenges, and moving forward little by little. Would you like to give her the courage to continue this journey?

With humans
The moment cautious Avo lets down her guard is when she meets people! She likes everyone, regardless of gender. While she hasn't had experience with young children, it seems she would get along well with them. If Avo is in a separate space from people, she might have the urge to escape because she wants to be with them. In such situations, consistent attention is necessary to ensure Avo doesn't get hurt.

With dogs
When Avo meets other dogs, she wags her tail and shows her belly as a sign of friendliness. Once they understand her feelings and sniff her, they slowly exchange greetings. Considerate Avo gets along well with her littermates, but when she gets too excited, she may engage in intense playtime without taking any breaks.

With cats
Avo hasn't met or lived with cats before.

Energy level
Avo, a curious explorer with high energy, is always ready to explore the world! Until her vaccinations are complete, play with her indoors using toys. Once vaccinated and leash-trained, Avo should be taken for walks at least twice a day. If her energy isn't released enough, she might chew on things at home, so make sure to have fun playtime together!

Shedding/Barking
Avo has minimal shedding, and when in a space separated from people, she may cry and ask to be brought out to be with them. Please note that as Avo grows and encounters various environments, her shedding and barking may change.

Needs help with
To help Avo recognize her name, guide her in learning and responding to the name, and gradually provide potty training, leash training, and manners with other dogs. Since Avo tends to get excited easily, introduce her to ways of resting comfortably in the kennel.

Health specifics
Avo still needs to complete vaccinations and may require additional vet visits for her hernia. Similar to her siblings, she has burst blood vessels in her eyes, necessitating meticulous care. Although her tooth growth rate is slow, she is growing healthily!

Ideal family
At three months old, Avo is in a stage where her environment has a significant impact. It would be best if the family spent plenty of time with her during the day, without young children to focus on her needs. Providing appropriate training, love, and affection is essential. While being the only pet is fine, having a compatible resident dog can help Avo learn and find companionship. She showed reluctance during hygiene grooming, so using treats for positive associations can be helpful. Additionally, she's teething and might chew on objects. Avo seeks a lifelong family that is responsible and has a positive outlook on the various changes she¡¯ll undergo as she grows!
