Rescue story
Luni was rescued in Namyangju Illegal Puppy Mill Complex C. This complex was the worst of the worst, and the dogs were living in hell. When the rescuers arrived on the scene, it was impossible to see without a flashlight and breathe due to the odor of ammonia and animal waste. Having lived in the dark for so long, these dogs were outright terrified of humans. They had grown so used to these horrendous living conditions that it wasn't even possible for them to dream of seeing the sun, breathing in the crisp air, and running around freely. Luni was one of many breeders that were being ruthlessly used for profit and deprived of proper veterinary care until WEACT rescued her last winter from life of hell.

Personality
Luni is reserved and likes to rest in a quiet place. She engages in people-watching, but doesn't like people much. Once Luni warms up to someone, however, she'll show signs of affection. By giving her plenty of space and approaching her slowly, she'll come cuddle with you :) Luni doesn't show much interest in dog friends or toys and prefers to relax in her own space. Because her legs are not in good condition, she can't walk much, but she still enjoys going on short walks. Although Luni is a picky eater, she likes to eat chicken breast, boneless chicken feet, and cartilage. Her teeth are weak so it would be helpful to soak her kibble in water and add treats that support her bones and muscles!

With humans
Luni doesn¡¯t go up to people first or show much interest in them other than watching them from afar.

With dogs
Luni doesn't show much interest in other dogs.

With cats
Luni currently resides with four cats at her foster home, but she doesn't have much interest in them.

Energy level
Because Luni is not very active and cannot go on long walks, it would be helpful to take her out frequently on short walks.

Shedding/Barking
Luni sheds minimally and rarely barks.

Needs help with
Luni usually goes outside for potty, but she'll do it indoors if urgent. Her success rate of using potty pads is only 50% so she'll need more training. Because Luni is still wary of anything new or unusual, she may be uncomfortable with going on new walking trails. She¡¯s also scared of car rides and may find walks more enjoyable in a stroller.

Health specifics
Due to Luni¡¯s weak respiratory system, she often coughs and sneezes. She also received luxating patella surgery because of her weak legs.

Ideal family
Since Luni prefers to potty outside, it would be wonderful if her family could take her out first thing in the morning as well as throughout the day. We hope at least one member of her family can stay home and keep her company. Although Luni's weak legs keep her from going on long walks, she still loves to go out even for a short period of time and breathe in the fresh air.
